Officials say the Thai–Cambodian border fence project follows National Security Council directives, with construction tailored to local conditions and ongoing updates promised to the public.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Royal Thai Armed Forces issued a statement on October 3 to clarify details regarding the construction of a fence along the Thai–Cambodian border, following public concerns raised by recent media reports. Officials explained that the project is proceeding in line with a resolution of the National Security Council (NSC).

According to the Armed Forces, the fence will be installed to enhance security and address issues along the frontier. Construction will only take place in areas deemed suitable, with each section tailored to the local geography and specific needs.

The NSC has assigned the Ministry of Defense, through the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters, to coordinate the project. This role includes working closely with other state agencies to ensure the process is carried out in accordance with established directives.

The Armed Forces stated that the project is consistent with the resolution adopted by the NSC and is part of broader efforts to safeguard the border and maintain order. The announcement was made to assure the public that national security remains a priority in the planning and execution of the fence.

Officials added that once decisions on construction sites and technical designs are finalized, further updates will be provided to keep the public informed of progress. (NNT)
