PATTAYA, Thailand – Chonburi – whose name fittingly means “City of Water” – became the setting for a heartwarming and transformative initiative by Rotary Club Global Pattaya. On Monday, the club proudly inaugurated a new drinking water project at the Nongketnoi Childcare Center, a program designed to safeguard health, promote sustainability, and enrich the lives of the community’s youngest members.
The project was spearheaded by dedicated club member Brett Beadleson, whose tireless planning and hands-on effort made the vision a reality, with strong support from club president Rosemarie Gamito. Together, they oversaw the installation of an industrial-grade water filtration system, ensuring that every child and staff member now has access to safe, clean drinking water.
Gone are the days when children had to bring bottled water from home. The centre is now fully self-sufficient, an achievement that guarantees better health for the children while eliminating approximately 12,000 plastic bottles per year – a meaningful contribution to environmental sustainability.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Nong Plai Sub-District Mayor Yossapong Lintong (Sao) and a large delegation. Mayor Sao expressed sincere gratitude for the club’s dedication and joined in the celebration by raising a glass of the newly available “Rotary Water.”
In addition to addressing the community’s water needs, the project solved a longstanding problem in the cafeteria, where pigeons frequently soiled the children’s dining area. A protective wire mesh barrier was installed, creating a cleaner and safer space for meals.
This thoughtfully executed project is more than a technical achievement – it represents lasting change and a brighter, healthier future for the children of Nongketnoi. The Rotary Club Global Pattaya team celebrates this milestone with pride, knowing that the benefits will be felt for years to come.
Because clean water isn’t just a convenience – Water is life.
