Government spokesperson Jirayu Houngsub says Thailand is mobilizing ministries, converting hospitals, and preparing compensation as border crisis escalates.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai government has ordered an urgent multi-agency response to the border crisis, including compiling casualty lists for compensation and converting local hospitals into field hospitals.

Government Spokesperson Jirayu Houngsub announced that Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai has ordered officials to compile lists of all citizens and personnel who were killed or injured. Provincial governors will summarize the data to facilitate compensation payments. Initial financial relief for both military personnel and civilians will be provided from the Prime Minister’s Office fund, with further aid measures to be considered.

Several ministries have been mobilized to respond to the crisis. The Ministry of Education has temporarily closed schools in high-risk areas, while the Ministry of Public Health has converted local hospitals into field hospitals and evacuated patients to safer facilities. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security is handling initial relief efforts, and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society is tasked with combating disinformation about the situation.

Mr. Jirayu also confirmed that the government has taken the most severe diplomatic measures by downgrading relations with Cambodia. This includes recalling the Thai ambassador from Cambodia and expelling the Cambodian ambassador from Thailand. (NNT)
