Minister Sorawong leads top-level delegation to Pattaya’s Walking Street to assess safety and tourism outlook.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong conducted an on-site inspection of Pattaya’s Walking Street earlier this week, leading a team of senior officials to assess public safety conditions, meet with business operators, and reaffirm the government’s backing for tourism revival in the region.

The delegation included Vice Minister and Spokesperson Chakraphon Tangsutthitham, Advisor Jakkapat Klongphayabal, and Secretary Kritsada Tanthetthit. They were joined by Police Lieutenant General Saksira Phueak-am, Commissioner of the Tourist Police, and the Commander of Provincial Police Region 2. The group received operational updates and walked through key areas of the nightlife zone to observe the atmosphere and current security measures.

During the visit, Sorawong and his team spoke with vendors and local business owners, many of whom described a return to operations but slower-than-expected foot traffic. Discussions involved plans to revive the local economy, with proposals for more frequent events and public activities that could attract both domestic and international visitors.

Minister Sorawong also addressed the media near the Tourist Police Mobile Command Unit, crediting the combined efforts of the police and public sector for maintaining safety in Pattaya, Chonburi, and other key tourist areas. (Photos from Voice TV FB page)

Local vendors report slow return of foot traffic and seek government help through more events and public activities, while foreign visitors praise authorities’ diligent work.

Tourist Police and Provincial Police Region 2 brief the minister on current security operations in the nightlife zone.

Media address highlights joint public-private efforts in ensuring tourist safety across Chonburi and beyond.
