Police are searching for one of two Burmese men suspected
of killing a fellow countryman in a Huay Yai tapioca field.
Thongthong Munkhong, 33, was arrested April 6 for his
role in the killing of a Burmese salesman known only as “Vinai.” Huay Yai
police said Thongthong confessed to working with a third Burmese man,
identified only as “Kaew” to kill Vinai.
Police said Vinai was frequently seen in the area,
selling items on installment payments. When the victim’s body was found
stabbed and face down in the field, police assumed it was motivated by
robbery.
When Thongthong was stopped by police later, he was
carrying the dead man’s phone, a 30 cm knife and 1,500 baht.
Police said Thongthong confessed he had Kaew call Vinai
to request a ride to the bus station. When they drove through a wooded area,
Kaew put Vinai in a headlock and then stabbed him repeatedly, police said
Thongthong claimed.
The suspect was booked on conspiracy of murder and the
search for the other Myanmar native continues.
