Australian drowns off Koh Sak

Boonlua Chatree

An elderly Australian man died after apparently suffering a heart attack and drowning while swimming off Koh Sak.

Stipe Bosnjak, 75, and 15 other tourists had rented a boat for fishing and swimming Feb. 5. He was on board the boat while it was anchored off the island two kilometers from Pattaya when he began to convulse and fell into the sea. While the water was only waist deep, he drowned.

Swedish friend Safet Radal, 65, said he and others tried to revive Bosnjak, but to no avail. Police assume the Australian suffered a heart attack or epileptic fit, but transferred the body to the Forensics Institute for a final determination.
