Thai AirAsia to push Ubon Ratchathani as aviation hub in Northeast

Thai AirAsia will push the northeastern province of Ubon Ratchathani to become its aviation hub in the region, according to Thai AirAsia Chief Executive Tassapol Bijleveld.

Tassapol said the project aims to link new domestic routes in Thailand’s North, Northeast and South using Ubon Ratchathani as the centre.

The airline believed it would attract over 80 percent of the passenger ratio.

Thai AirAsia currently offers direct flights from Ubon Ratchathani to the northern province of Chiang Mai and vice versa three times per week. The routes started Wednesday and received more than 80 percent of customers.

The airline’s chief said that Ubon Ratchathani connects to the Lao PDR’s Chong Mek border crossing and flying economically with Thai AirAsia would help boost the economy and investment in the area at the year end, as it would be a good option for travelers to travel there. (MCOT)
