Tiffany’s Show Pattaya, says a very sad Farewell to Pa Tui

Ken Smith,
Technical/Creative Director, Tiffany’s Show, Pattaya.

A life of Fun and Entertainment.
A life of Inspiration to Others.
A life of Giving.
A life of Teaching.
That was Pa Tui, an entertainer extraordinary, a friend, a legend.
Pa Tui could make you laugh and make you cry, laughing.
Pa Tui was originally from Bangkok, the 7th child in a family of 8 children.

He was a born comedian, and all his life he loved to entertain, to make people happy, to forget about their problems and be transported to his world. A world of make believe. Pa Tui was at his best playing female comedy which he was a master at and had lip sinking down to a T. He was particularly clever at mimicking, copying, and sending up such well known personalities as a very pregnant Shirley Bassey singing “I, I who have nothing,” and Eartha Kit, who he was the image of in full makeup and singing “Say Si Bon”.

Pa Tui was an inspiration to all he worked with and performed for. Audiences came back year after year to see Tiffany’s Show and of course, Pa Tui who became the face of Tiffany’s Show. Pa Tui travelled extensively with Tiffany’s Show, and wherever he went he had a fan club - Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan and China.

Supparp, now Tiffany’s Show director recalls meeting Pa Tui at a Fantasy Ball in Bangkok dressed as Dracula. A year or so later they met again, this time in Pattaya where Pa Tui had taken a position in a vet specializing in medicines and caring for animals.

Supparp asked Pa Tui to join him in as a partner in his One Man Show in Walking Street. That was the beginning of a lifetime partnership and the beginning of what was to become Tiffany’s Show. Later, Aunty and Sutham built it up into the Tiffany’s show that we know today. Pa Tui became assistant show director to Supparp.

I remember well my first meeting with Pa Tui when I joined the company nearly 7 years ago, as technical/creative director. The meeting was a bit cold as I think Pa Tui was thinking, “Who is this farang barging in here?” The first set I designed was an Indian scene which I worked really hard on. The opening night I was still working on the litter which brought the principal girl in, carried by 6 slave boys, 15 minutes before it was due to go on, sweating profusely. Next thing I knew Pa Tui was next to me saying, “Oh Khun Ken you work too hard, can I get you a cup of tea or a gin?” From that day on we were the best of friends.

Pa Tui was the life of any party, and always led the singing of Happy Birthday in his own inimitable style at the end of monthly staff meetings for all those who had celebrated a birthday during the proceeding month.

Pa Tui passed on all his knowledge to new and younger members of the company. He was a master and perfectionist in Thai Classical Dance and spent many hours in rehearsal, training the cast for the new Thai numbers that were presented in the show.

Pa Tui leaves many memories for audiences from all corners of the world who came back year after year to see Tiffany’s Show and to be greeted after every show in front of the theatre by Pa Tui in his best outfit, loud hailer in hand, thanking every one for coming, having many photos taken and wishing every one a safe trip home and see you again soon.

Pa Tui was first and for most a consuming entertainer. An entertainer full of warmth, love and happiness which was infectious to all he met and entertained. A star and a legend of incredible wit and talent. His memory will go on and on.

We at Tiffany’s are privileged to have worked with him. We rejoice in his life and knowing him and mourn his passing.

Gone but never forgotten.
Rest In Peace, Pa Tui.

The Lighthouse Club (LHC) Pattaya Branch is making beautiful progress - in more ways than one.

Ace DJ Nakadia.

Not only is the club managing to secure some great new venues and generous new sponsors for its networking events, it is also attracting interest from some glamorous Thai ladies.

Top model Xanny Disjad and ace DJ Nakadia have agreed to attend tonight’s meeting of the club, which will be held at the Pullman Pattaya Aisawan at Wong-Amat on Friday, June 4 starting at 6 p.m.

The two ladies will be there just to get experience of what Lighthouse is all about. Neither will be performing at the Pullmon on the night. Xanny will be there gaining knowledge of Lighthouse before she acts in an ambassadorial role for the big Movers & Shakers networking evening planned for later in the year. Nakadia is there courtesy of The Bed Supper Lounge. After the Lighthouse event she will be DJ’ing at The Bed. Anyone attending The Bed event will be asked to pay Bt200 which will also go to the Lighthouse Club.

The event will be held in the hotel’s Sunset Lounge which offers a great combination of an open air terrace overlooking the beach and a comfortable undercover interior should the weather decide not to join in with the party atmosphere. All are welcome. Entrance fees are Bt200 for members (and all ladies) and Bt500 for non-members. All money goes to the charity LHC supports, the Melissa Cosgrove Foundation.
