Stags Head raises money for charity on St George’s Day

Billy Major and John Wraith present charitable funds raised at their St George’s Day celebration to Fred Doell (centre), international director of the Mercy Centre.

Celebrations were in full swing on Friday 23rd April at The Stags Head in Soi L.K. Metro. Bar owner William Major, otherwise known as Billy, and regular customer John Wraith decided that not enough was done to honour St George’s Day. So the bar was decorated with balloons, food was laid on and an impromptu charity auction was held.

The evening was a huge success and with donations from only the regular customers, an amazing 25,000 baht was raised.

Billy and John would like to thank all those present that evening for their generous donations. A presentation of the proceeds was made to Fred Doell, international director of the Mercy Centre.

The Amari Orchid Pattaya has come up with an inventive way to sample wines in an informal and relaxed way.

On the last Friday of every month they hold ‘An Experience’ in the Garden Lounge, the last of which was on Friday April 30th and was entitled ‘Experience Sauvignon Blanc’.

At only 750 baht net, the guests were treated to an unlimited amount from a fine selection of white wines from Chile, Southeast Australia, France and South Africa and there was even some red wine on hand for those who prefer something a little heavier.

This was complimented by Chef Jens Heier’s ensemble of fresh seafood tapas and live music from the Vineyard Duo.

On Friday 23rd of April the Charity Club of Pattaya greeted guests of all nationalities to celebrate England’s National Day named St. George’s Day.

Stuart Bartley and Veerawuth, the F&B manager at All Season’s Pattaya.

The Charity Club of Pattaya was raising money for the Yim Kids Charity. This charity helps pay for the educational needs of the rubber tappers children, the sea gypsy children and the children at the slum schools in Bangkok.

Staff from the All Season’s Hotel in Pattaya have recently joined other Accor hotels to participate in a race with all the proceeds going to the Yim Kids Charity.

As this was a celebration for the English community, the choice of food wasn’t difficult, traditional fish & chips supper all round, which was included in the ticket price of 300 baht, of which 200 baht went straight to the charity.

Sponsor Malcolm Glenny and the winner of a prize.

The Charity Club held a raffle on the evening and would like to thank the following sponsors: All Season’s Pattaya, Yorkies Pork Platter Jomtien Beach Road, Rosie O’Grady’s Soi 7 Pattaya, Queen Victoria Inn Soi 6 Pattaya, Isaan Flowers Soi Chalermphrakiat (off Soi Buakaow), The Caddy Shack Soi 17 Thepprasit, Cranes & Equipment Asia, David Isitt, Dave Lee, George Joanno, Malcolm Glenny, Rob Malkin and Stuart Bartley.

Everyone had a great time and, of course, the whole reason for the evening was to raise funds for those less fortunate. The amount raised was 49,200 baht, which the club was pleased with, being as so many activities were also on in Pattaya that evening.

A big thank you to the staff at the Caddy Shack, Keith, Koy, Ben and Reg for all the hard work they put in to make the evening such a success.

The next Charity Club Event is the Charity Gala Dinner at the All Season’s Hotel Pattaya on June 5. Tickets available now at 1,800 baht which includes a Thai & International buffet, free bar, free flow red & white wine sponsored by The World of Wine, and free flow beer.
