The ‘Sharks’ of Chonburi F.C. hit the top of the Thai Premier
League last weekend after securing a hard fought 2-1 victory over Navy
Rayong on Saturday while their main rivals, Bangkok Glass and Muang
Thong United, both suffered surprise losses.
Chonburi raced into an early two-goal lead at the Sirindhorn stadium
through a brace of goals from striker Kone Mohamed in the first half.
Suttinun Nontee pulled one back for the visitors in the 58th minute but
the ‘Sharks’ held on to claim the three points and take over at the top
of the league standings, above Bangkok Glass and Osotsapa M-150 on goals
scored. All three teams now have 27 points from 14 games.
Meanwhile at the Nongprue stadium last Sunday, Pattaya United’s woes
continued with a 0-1 home defeat to TOT F.C., their first home defeat of
the season but their sixth overall. Once again it was United’s
profligacy in front of goal that was the main cause for concern as
Rattana Phetarpoon got on the score sheet for the visitors to leave the
‘Dolphins’ just one point off the foot of the table and in a serious
‘dog fight’ to avoid relegation in their first season.
Meanwhile lowly placed Sri Racha provided one of the biggest shocks last
weekend when they scored a 2-0 away victory against defending champions
PEA F.C. in Ayutthaya. Suporn Prompinit was the hero for Sri Racha with
goals in the 74th and 86th minutes to put them on 12 points and level
with neighbours Pattaya.
In the next round of fixtures on Saturday, June 20, Chonburi will visit
Thai Port FC, Navy Rayong will play PEA and Sri Racha have a home
fixture against high flying Osotsapa FC. On Sunday, June 21, Pattaya
United will make a trip to bottom placed club Chula United in what is
now a real ‘six-pointer’ at the foot of the table.

Pattaya student takes home wheelchair marathon gold
Ariyawat Nuamsawat
A Pattaya Redemptorist School graduate is proudly wearing a gold
medal after winning the recent half-marathon event at the Seoul
International Wheelchair Marathon 2009 in South Korea.
Thai
wheelchair athletes (from left) Prasobchok Yachioka, Ekachai Chanthon and
Pichaya Khurattanasiri pose for a photo in the Seoul Olympic Stadium with
national team coach, Likhit Thaksin.
Pichaya Khurattanasiri, 21, took the gold in the serious-disabilities
category with a time of 1.06.58 over 21 kilometers. Athletes from 10
countries competed in the race.
Thai national gold medalist Sukhum Namlun finished 11th with a time of
1.41.09 in the full marathon after colliding with a barricade. Fellow Thai
teammate Ekachai Chanthorn finished eighth with a time of 1.35:32.
Coach Likit Thaksin said the Thai national team trained several days in
advance for the May 7-11 competition.
“The athletes competed at their full capability, but the weather, the
unusual route and conditions affected them,” Likit said. “After they come
back (to Thailand) they will continue training for future competitions.”
International Australian Rules Football
returns to Pattaya
Mark Armsden
The Bangkok-based Thailand Tigers Australian Rules Football Club is bringing
the unique code to Pattaya again with a game against one of the region’s
strongest teams - Singapore - at Horseshoe Point on June 27.
Top
class Aussie Rules Football will be on show at Horseshoe Point on Saturday,
June 27 when the Thailand Tigers take on a powerful Singapore team.
Singapore were unlucky not to be crowned Asian Australian Rules Champions
late last year, finishing runners-up to Dubai in a high-quality 12 team
regional championship. They will be travelling to Thailand full of
confidence with recent wins over Indonesia and Malaysia.
The Thailand Tigers are also going into the game with confidence after an
infusion of new players and a big win over Vietnam in the traditional Anzac
Day game recently in Kanchanaburi.
Tigers’ coach, David Paterson, said the game promises to be a spectacular
example of the sport on the spacious and well maintained Horseshoe Point
ground. The Tigers held their first fixture on the Eastern Seaboard last
year and ran out convincing winners against Hong Kong in front of a vocal
crowd.
“We had a good win against Hong Kong the first time we played in Pattaya but
are very mindful that Singapore would be in the top two or three Australian
Rules teams in Asia right now,” Paterson said.
“We have been training pretty solidly and know that this will be one of our
toughest home game fixtures for some time, so the game should be pretty fast
moving and we hope that our good mix of older players and new recruits can
step up for us.
“It will be a fantastic showcase for the sport and we are hoping Pattaya can
get behind us and get out to the game and support the mighty Tigers.”
The Thailand Tigers are inviting all residents and their families of Pattaya
to come down to the game at Horseshoe Point and cheer them on from 1.30 p.m.
on Saturday June 27. Shaded seating and a good range of food and beverages
will be available during the day.
The game will also be the last international match for one of the great
Tigers, Allan “Hollywood” Sharman. Sharman commenced his Asian Australian
Rules Football career as a maverick wingman and after a stint in the forward
line, has matured into a hard running defender who opponents find difficult
to score against.
Bridge in Paradise: by Neil Robinson
Robert follows his new rule
Last Saturday I played in the annual individual tournament at the historic
old club in Muang Som-mut. There were 24 entrants and everyone played two
hands with each of the other players, for a total of 46 hands, leisurely
spread over the day.
Coming into the final two
hands, the bridge gods had been kind to me, and I had hopes of winning the
tournament. My partner for the last two hands was my old friend Robert the
Rules. His nickname comes from his love of rules, at the bridge table and
in life. He never fails to cover an honour with an honour. Last week I
described how I finally got him to stop always playing third hand high.
When there is an honour in dummy, he adopted the new rule that I taught him
- keep an honour to beat an honour in dummy. This was the first hand with
Robert:
NS vulnerable, East deals
S: K73
H: QJ1098
D: AKQJ
C: K
S: J108642 S: A95
H: K3 H: 62
D: 1086 D: 95
C: 93 C:
AQ10764
S: Q
H: A754
D: 7432
C: J852
This was the bidding:
East (Robert) South West (me)
North
P P
2S Dbl
3S P
P Dbl
P 4H
4S 5H
All
pass
Robert dealt and passed.
South also passed. I pre-empted with a 2 spade call. Purists might object
to a weak two with such a poor hand and bad suit, but with my partner having
passed already, I wanted to get in the way of the opponents’ bidding to the
maximum extent possible.
North doubled for takeout, presumably intending to bid a red suit or no
trump if partner bid clubs. Robert correctly raised the barrier by going to
three. But North, with his 19 points, was undeterred and doubled again.
South bid 4 hearts. Non-vulnerable, I pushed to 4 spades, which has a play
for only one down. North, hoping South was void in spades, went to 5
hearts. I passed, hoping we had pushed them too high to make.
I led the jack of spades. Dummy ducked. Just looking at dummy and East’s
cards only, what card would you play from the East hand? Robert, seeing the
king in dummy, ducked. South, a fine Thai player, took the first trick with
the queen and led a club, won by Robert. He returned a trump, ducked to my
king. I led another spade, trumped in hand. South then led a trump to
dummy, and ruffed the last spade in hand. By now, dummy was all winners and
he claimed 11 tricks, losing only the ace of clubs and the king of trumps .
I pointed out to Robert that he can count spades. He can see six in his own
hand and dummy and he knows that I have six from the bidding. Therefore, he
knows declarer’s queen is singleton. All he has to do is take the ace on
the first round and we will defeat the contract. He had been so pleased
with himself for remembering to keep an honour to beat the one in dummy, and
was so crestfallen when I criticised his play, that I did not have the heart
to say more. Getting Robert to think about the play, instead of following a
rule blindly, was a hopeless task anyway!
I knew I needed a good last hand to still have a chance of winning. I’ll
tell you about that hand next week.
Please e-mail me your favourite hands to [email protected].

IPGC golf from The Haven
Monday, June 8, Green Valley - Stableford
1st Kenny Priddy 37pts
2nd Alan Griffiths 36pts
3rd Russell Finch 34pts
4th Peter Sumner 34pts
Kenny Priddy usually takes a few games to get back into the swing of golf after
spending too long in Blighty without ever seeing a golf ball, but after winning
the second division of last week’s inaugural IPGC monthly stableford in some
style he continued to amaze his playing partners with a game that seems some way
away from a 25 handicap. This will no doubt be revised after the weekend
reviews. But in the meantime he is taking advantage of the situation with not a
few whimpers from his playing partners.
Alan Griffiths continues to consolidate his golf game after seeing his handicap
reduced to 12 recently, and it surely will not be long before another downward
move will be applied, as on this day he easily stroked it round in level
handicap to record a par round of thirty six points.
Russell Finch continues to search for the elusive “Game I used to Have”, even
sending to the States for an old Hammer driver that according to the sales blurb
cuts through the air like a knife, but that also unfortunately at the moment
loses a bit of distance. But still it was a pleasing round in the wagering
department.
Peter Sumner, playing his last game before having to return to the UK to attend
to his real job, closed out the winners for the day as he just lost out in the
count back for third with a worse 14 points to 16.
There were no 2’s in the second division but Rick Holmes had the only one in the
first division to sweep the pool.
Wednesday, June 10, Greenwood- Stableford
1st Russell Finch 40pts
2nd Rick Holmes 36pts
3rd Kenny Priddy 33pts
4th Trevor Schirmer 33pts
Russell Finch seems to be taking his personal golf challenges quite seriously,
as he once again confounded the pundits and dashed their hopes of a free night
at the bar. His solid, and for once unexciting, round of two even halves of 20
points each netted him 40 points to take the top step on the podium by a clear
four shots. It was a round that will surely see his handicap reduced to twenty
for next week’s tournaments.
Rick Holmes, who is slowly recovering from a serious case of golfers elbow,
showed a good return to form with a level handicap round to take second place
ahead of Kenny Priddy, who could not quite match his heroics of the previous
competition but still played well enough for third.
Trevor Schirmer slipped into fourth place after having lost the count back to
Kenny with only 14 points to 16.
There were no 2’s in the first division, but B.J. Smith continues to clean up
whenever he shows up in the second division, as he slipped in another one from
at least 40 yards “that never went higher or lower than six inches until it hit
the flagstick and went in”, according to the very reliable source who was also
marking the card.
Friday, June 12, Phoenix – Stableford
1st Trevor Schirmer 40pts
2nd Alan Griffiths 36pts
3rd Barry Traynor 35pts
4th Chris Knapp 34pts
With Russell Finch having the day of from Soi 13, it was left to Trevor Schirmer
to improve on his previous outing by seven and easily lead in the field by four
as he also went two under on both nines to amass 40 points with some extremely
steady play from tee to green and followed up with a good day on the greens.
This very efficient round will mean that Trevor will again be down to twelve
when the handicaps are published on Saturday for the coming week’s competitions.
Alan Griffiths was again in evidence at the top of the leader board as he
returned a level handicap round for the second time in the week and just take
second spot by a stroke.
Barry Traynor, although unable to get one of his almost compulsory 2’s in the
round, still had enough in the bag to take third place by a shot from Chris
Knapp, the perennial podium man at Phoenix where he takes full advantage of his
friendly member’s bounces and undoubted course knowledge.
Trevor Schirmer slipped in the only ‘2’ in the first division but the second
division remained unclaimed.
Before presenting the prizes The Doc welcomed new member Jason Croft and also
welcomed back Gary Knapp.
Oakes wins in style at Emerald
PSC golf from The Caddyshack
Monday, June 8, The Emerald - Stableford
Monday was a trip to the Emerald golf course and the
condition of the course was more than acceptable and the weather
stayed clear for a great day’s golf.
Wednesday’s
winner at Green Valley: Graham Beaumont.
The Caddyshack had a surprise guest appearance from Tony Oakes; Tony
even put together a great round of golf and scored 38 points to win
the day. In second place was the very consistent Ben Findon with 36
points and in third was Don Wilson with 35. Fourth place was taken
by The Caddyshack’s answer to Red Rum as he never seems to be out of
the frame, and that man is Jeff North with 33 points.
Wednesday, June 10, Green Valley – Stablefordl
Today was a trip to Green Valley, with numbers depleted
due to the PSC monthly tournament the previous day. Graham Beaumont
claimed first place with sub par 37 points, just one ahead of the in
form Don Wilson in second.
Friday, June 12, Green Valley - Stableford
We returned to Green Valley on Friday with a couple of
old faces turning up, including Gus Dickie: Gus played a great round
and hit 2 greens on the par 3’s on the only day that there were no
near pin prizes. The other near miss to mention was Les Hall getting
a birdie ‘2’ on a par 3 but to his dismay there was no 2’s pot
either.
Coming home in third place today was Roger Moore with 33 points,
just beaten to second spot on count back by James Savage. But out in
front with some breathing space and a comfortable win was Ted
Gardner, the only player on the day to shoot a sub par round with a
very nice 38 points. Well done Ted!
Robbins has a day to remember
PSC golf from The Bunker
Monday, June 8, Green Valley - Medal
Tony Robbins came back to Thailand after another brief overseas
jaunt and what a come back it was! Playing Medal, Tony romped home with a
six under par round to leave the rest of the Bunker Boy’s trailing in his
wake. William came in as runner up five shots behind and Mashi beat P.J. on
a count back to sneak into the places again.
William
Macey - winner at Burapha and runner up at Green Valley.

2nd William Macey (13) net 71
3rd Mashi Kaneta (12) net 74
4th P.J. Redmond (16) net 74
Near Pins: William Macey, John McDonald and Tony Robbins (2).
Wednesday, June 10, Burapha - Stableford
William and Tony were at the top of the leaderboard again today.
Playing stableford it was William who came out on top courtesy of a count
back, and a count back also decided the minor placings too. With a clutch of
players finishing with 34 points third place eventually went to Peter
Habgood and P.J. just did enough on the back nine to steal fourth place.
1st William Macey (13) 35pts
2nd Tony Robbins (10) 35pts
3rd Peter Habgood (18) 34pts
4th P.J. Redmond (16) 34pts
Near Pins: John McDonald, Rab McDonald and Gerry Cooney (2).
Friday, June 12, Crystal Bay - Medal
Obtaining vouchers from Pattaya Sports Club makes playing at
Crystal Bay a bargain these days and the large turn out shows just how
popular the voucher system is.
There were two flights today and the cut was set at handicap 13 and Sunny
Khanna found some form on his last day of golf before returning home; Sunny
won the A Flight with a two under par round just one shot better than Tony
Robbins and Paul Smith, who both finished one under. Tony, who’s been
playing some great golf lately, beat Paul on a count back to take the runner
up spot.
In the A Flight, Eddie Martin had a level par round which was enough to take
the honours ahead of Alex Kilcoyne while P.J. was surprised to find his net
79 was good enough to take third place.
A Flight
1st Sunny Khanna (12) net 70
2nd Tony Robbins (10) net 71
3rd Paul Smith (5) net 71
B Flight
1st Eddie Martin (18) net 72

Herbie strikes again
PSC golf from The Three Sisters Bar
The weather was perfect at the Pattaya Country Club for this June 9 golf
outing as the Three Sisters golfers took to the fairways. Teeing off at
6:30am it didn’t take long for the sun to become very warm but there
were a few clouds that blocked the sun for brief periods and there was
also a nice breeze.
Tuesday
winner Herbie Ishinaga (left) with runner up Bill Thompson.
The course was is good shape with recent mowing in evidence. The caddies
were doing a great job applying the 90 degree rule but a few golfer
drivers drove more or less as the ball flies.
Back at Caddy Shack 2 the cards were tallied while players enjoyed some
of Herbie Ishinaga’s regular and spicy hot dogs along with other snacks
and more than a few bottles of liquid refreshment.
Absent from the top for quite some time, Herbie Ishinaga came roaring in
with 37 points to claim the win. Paul Donahue held second place for a
few brief moments with a 32 until Bill Thompson came in with a
respectable 35. Some of the regulars normally at the top fell well below
their usual efforts but expect to see them back in form next week.
Jim scores a ‘2’

IPGC golf from Lewiinski’s
Sunday, June7, Green Valley - Stableford
A Flight
1st Peter Henshaw (15) 36pts
2nd Joe Mcardle (13) 35pts
B Flight
1st Terry Wagner (16) 36pts
2nd Chas Sheppard (16) 35pts
Near Pins: #2 Joe Mcardle, #9 Jim Munns, #12 Kevin Hamilton, #16 Kevin
Hamilton.
High scores dominated Sunday’s competition at Green Valley. The course was in
good condition and the flags were very fairly placed.
The President only needed an even par round to win A Flight and a share of man
of the match. Joe Lederhosen Macyodel was a shot back in second place.
Co man of the match and B Flight winner was Terry Wagner, also with the same
even par round. Chas the “Sheppard” kept a close watch on his flock also a shot
adrift in second place.
Cleveland’s Kevin Hamilton made a statement six months ago that he would be a
single handicapper by Christmas, well he was today for two holes, mind (18)?
Kevin Hamilton (2), Bob St Aubin and Andy Kehller shared the ‘2’s pot.
Jack “Bilko” Spencer was the lucky competitor as his name was drawn out to win
the Lou –iinski’s free draw. Jack pocketed 4,050 baht.
Talking about luck, when a black cat crosses your path it is said to be a sign
of good luck. The Principal might argue this, as he rode his motor bike, he was
forced to swerve to miss a black cat, and finished in a heap with his bike on
top of him. Guess it was lucky for the cat.
Tuesday, June 9, St Andrews - Stableford
1st Jack Spencer (8) 39pts
2nd Clinton Hazlet (5) 37pts
3rd Peter Henshaw (15) 36pts
St Andrews was the host on Tuesday to the Lewinski’s gang, who found the course
in pristine condition.
The man on fire, Lieutenant Colonel Jack “Bilko” Spencer, marched to emphatic
victory: Jacks 39 point haul included six 3’s on his card. Clinton Hazlet marked
his return to Thailand posting 37 well earned points for second place. The
President’s 21 points on the back nine tipped the scales in his favor in a
three-way tie with Seamus V C and Don Lehmer.
The Donkeys mate Glyn “Shut that door” Grayson and Nicky two gloves shared the
‘2’s pot.
Wednesday, June 10, Bangpra - Stableford
A Flight
1st Kimya Akiyama (9) 40pts
2nd Peter Hynard (13) 40pts
B Flight
1st Terry Wagner (16) 38pts
2nd Pierre Bietry (15) pts36pts
Bangpra and the resident monkeys welcomed the Lewinski’s mob and the lads were
in for a treat. The course has benefited from the recent heavy rains and was
found to be in immaculate condition, the monkeys also got there treat too, more
about that later.
Kimya Akiyama san and Peter Hynard battled it out in A Flight, both returning a
splendid 40 points each: Kimya san took the honors on the resulting count back,
19-18.
Terry Wagner kept up the good work of late with 38 points to win B Flight,
leaving Pierre the “Magician” to complete the podium with 36 points.
The monkeys at the ninth tee were seen eating a bag of fruit for their lunch,
much to the amusement of the golfers’ caddies. That was until one realized it
was her lunch they were tucked into.
Ho yes, and Jim Elphick holed a ‘2’, along with Seamus VC and “Shut that door”
Grayson.
Friday, June 12, Crystal Bay - Stableford
A Flight
1st Paul West (12) 39pts
2nd Peter Henshaw (15) 35pts
Crystal Bay was host to a depleted Lewinski’s gang on Friday where Paul West
posted an impressive 39 points to win the day from the President after a
three-way tie with the “Magician” and Peter Hynard. The “Magician” conjured up
his own bit of magic to take the Lou-inskis’ free draw of 2,420 baht.
No ‘2s were recorded so a rollover to Monday.
I heard it on the ‘Wireless’
“Golf can best be defined as an endless series of tragedies obscured by the
occasional miracle, followed by a good bottle of beer.”
Note: Lewiinski’s is situated on Pattaya Land Soi 1, Beach Road Soi 13/3 near to
Walking Street. Anyone wishing to play with us just pop in, and add your name to
the list or call Bob on 080 096 8232. Transport is provided.

Saturday’s winners: Michael
Moreton, Peter Evans,
Phil Lawrence, Rod Cresswell and Ted Senior.
Barry Hooper
I made mention a couple of weeks ago as to how the Australians
had taken the week’s play over the rest of the nations that we have
playing with us. Well they were at it again last week with the majority
of the wins going their way, particularly Rod Creswell with two wins and
a third in his three outings and Ray Trembath and Peter Evans with the
other victories.
Gerald Thwaites and William Smith must be given some credit for stopping
a full house being on offer to our Australian friends.
Monday, June 8, Pattana - Stableford
Div. 1
1st Gerald Thwaites (10) 34pts
2nd John Lay (12) 33pts
3rd Phil Knight (10) 33pts
Div. 2
1st Rod Cresswell (17) 34pts
2nd Alan Evans (24) 32pts
3rd Alun Webber (23) 31pts
On Monday we travelled to Pattana to play the A & B courses; this is a
nice course and it was found to be in good fettle. We had a large
turnout so two divisions and some good golf. As seems to be the norm at
the moment a good number of our regulars were in the field plus quite a
few new names - always nice to see.
The second division went to Rod Cresswell with his 34 points and two
clear of second placed Alan Evans. In division one Gerald Thwaites was
at the top of the list again with a 34-pointer. But the other places
were all decided on count back 33’s with the honours ending in this
order: Jon Lay, Phil Knight and Stephen Deakin.
The 2’s went to Fergus Brennan and Roger Wilkinson.
Tuesday, June 9, Treasure Hill - Stableford
1st Rod Cresswell (17) 31pts
2nd Peter Evans (27) 30pts
3rd Rob Herald (16) 29pts
Tuesday was a trip to Treasure Hill, a course I find is not everybody’s
cup of tea. The numbers attending were low but it enabled Rod Cresswell
to take his second win of the week with 31 points, just pipping Peter
Evans on 30 and Rob Herald at 29.
There were no ‘2’s on the day.
Thursday, June 11, Phoenix (Mountain & Lake) -
Stableford
Div. 1
1st Ray Trembath (10) 41pts
2nd Ray Allison (11) 35pts
3rd Roger Wilkinson (16) 34pts
4th Phil Knight (10) 34pts
Div. 2
1st William Smith (18) 35pts
2nd David Gray (33) 35pts
3rd Rod Cresswell (17) 32pts
4th Len Hardingham (18) 31pts
The course at Phoenix was yet again in great condition and we had a very
good turnout of quality players so two divisions.
Ray Trembath really found his form and piled in a great 41 points to
make division one all his own by a clear six points over Ray Allison (it
is also good to see he has found his form again as well). Roger
Wilkinson was third with 34 after a count back over Phil Knight.
William Smith took the second division with 35 points after winning the
count back over David Gray. Rod Cresswell found himself in third this
time at 32.
Two ‘2’s were recorded on the day by David Gray and Ray Allison.
Saturday, June 13, Green Valley - Stableford
1st Peter Evans (27) 38pts
2nd Phil Lawrence (12) 36pts
3rd Ted Senior (15) 36pts
4th Rod Cresswell (17) 35pts
5th Michael Moreton (24) 35pts
Saturday was another trip to our regular weekend venue of Green Valley
with a large turnout bolstered by the many Australians currently
visiting with us. The weather behaved again, with the rain only coming
after play was over.
Just the one division but prizes on offer went down to fifth place. That
went to Michael Moreton with 35 points, losing out on the count back for
fourth to Rod Cresswell (he had a great week on the quiet). In third was
Ted Senior, also losing out on a count back, this time to Phil Lawrence
with both players on 36. But the winner was Peter Evans by a clear two
points at 38.
There were two ‘2’s on the day from Jon Lay and Phil Lawrence.
Wylie leads the way at Pattana
PSC Golf from Mulligans Lakeside
Last Tuesday saw the PSC tournament at Pleasant Valley, in the form of a
2-Man Scramble. As an affiliated PSC venue we decided to forgo our regular
Mulligans Lakeside competition & support the PSC tournament. This is an
important issue as it is the PSC that provides our discounts, vouchers etc,
and support from affiliated venues one day per month, should not be too
great an imposition on all venues.
Despite our sending 5 teams, we saw very little success come our way; Ken
Hole (16) & Graham Hiskett (14) were our best performing team, still
finishing nearly 5 shots away from 7th place. All participants agreed it was
a good day out at the tough Pleasant Valley, and congratulations to all
winners.
Thursday, June 11, Pattana – Stableford
Thursday saw a return to normal service, so off we travelled to
the superb surroundings of Pattana Golf & Sports Club. With very few other
golfers on the course, other than the Thai LPGA, and the course in great
condition, we were indeed in golf heaven. Overcast skies and a light breeze
added to the day, however scoring was still fairly tough for the majority of
the field.
Leading the way on 36 points was Jeff Wylie (8), followed by newcomer to our
group, Bernie Seagrove (10) with 30 points. Next best were Ken and Ian with
‘20 somethings’ each.
All golfers were heard to utter the perennial golfer’s lament, “I should
have scored better, if only I …”
The technical prizes were shared between Jeff and Martin.

Tuesday, June 9 – Pleasant Valley
We decided to hold the monthly tournament a bit earlier than
normal this month as the PSC Annual General Meeting was on June 13 and this
would give the ‘next’ Golf Chairman, although it may still be the ‘old’ Golf
Chairman, time to plan the year ahead.
We also tried a new format; a ‘2-ball scramble’ at this the most discussed
of all golf courses. You either love it or you hate it, however with 80
golfers turning out at this quietest time of the year, the day was always
going to be a success. Last year we had nowhere near these numbers so it’s
well done to Perry, the Golf Chairman, and his helpers.
Perry
with the runners up, Owen Walkley and Les Bland.
So onto the day, and we all gathered there bright and early, and onto the
first Tee. I have to mention the clubhouse that is ‘temporary’, but seemed
to do the job quite well. I just hoped it still would when we finished and
all tried to squeeze into the few showers available.
The first hole here is a difficult drive, but most teams seemed to manage to
get one of their balls on the fairway. The big problem with the day was the
strong wind, however, it was also appreciated because when it dropped it was
so hot we hoped for the wind to blow again.
The rest of the course is very tight with a lot of internal ‘OBs’, however,
with two Tee shots we seemed to get around that problem, and usually one
player proved his worth. All in all a fine day out on the course.
Mike
Gerrard doles out the third place prizes to Perry and Bob.
Back in the changing rooms it was a bit packed, however we found a couple of
showers around the corner so there was not much of a wait and it was soon
into the restaurant area which proved quite good enough for all the players,
until they left for the night function at the Moon River Pub.
It was then a case of into cars and back to the Moon River Pub, where from
1800hrs to 1900hrs it was into the buffet and test the food. I have to say,
and this is just a personal preference, that I enjoyed the buffet here the
most I have enjoyed all year. Maybe it was because I had not eaten after the
golf, but all parts of the food layout were excellent, and all I talked to
found it the same. Well done the Moon River Pub and thanks for hosting us
and providing fine food.
The
Golf Chairman (right) with Danilo Becker, the Operations Manager of the Thai
Garden Resort and Moon River Pub.
We also had a fine group providing good music for the ‘Goldie Oldies’ both
before and after the presentation. Talking of that we had that famous double
act, Gerrard and McNeely providing the ‘entertainment’ for the night and as
a golfer I hope not for the last time.
Perry thanked all the people who had helped him throughout the year, mainly
Mike, Max, Tony, Derek and Tim (those forgotten I apologise to). He also
thanked all those who had sponsored him throughout the year, most I have
thanked individually each month, so to them all, another big thank you.
Onto the presentation controlled by our Emcee Mike Gerrard: first the Golf
Chairman gave his end of term speech, then the PSC Vice President, your
humble scribe, thanked all for the past year and hoped for another good one
ahead. Particular thanks were given to Perry for being so inventive and he
was wished the best in his future works.
Then Mike got underway with the results: The winners with a Net 57.8 were
the team of Gregg Ritchee and Donald Wilson. In second place with a Net 58
came the pairing of Owen Walkley and Les Bland, closely followed by Perry
McNeely and Bob Benda in third with a Net 59. In fourth spot was the team of
Andy Pilling and Ian Halfpenny with a Net 59.4, and then we had a three-way
count back on net 60.4 that saw Ed Behr and David Woodburn in fifth, Per
Olaf Baarli and Keith Murrey taking sixth, and Graham Baumont and Helmut
Hebstreet in seventh.
The night finished with some fine music and Mike and I trying to empty one
of the Moon River Pub’s three liter monsters. Yes of course we did, but I
was not well the next morning. It was a fine night, I think. For this
golfing year - T.T.F.N!
Near Pins: Damien Trant, Andy Pilling, Brian Ferrieno, Bob Benda, Ian
Halfpenny, Roger Stromstedt, Mark Bridges, Perry McNeely, Mike Allidi, Roger
Tereszkieviche, Kevin Dinan, Roger Moore, Don Wilson, Owen Walkley, Brian
Jacks.
Long Drives: Bob Benda, Graham Beaumont, Kevin Bird, Gary Saunders.

Tuesday, June 9, Greenwood C & A (white tees) –
Stableford
A compact good humored group turned out to take on Greenwood
which was in excellent shape as usual. Mike King had the best of it
returning 39 points for the win, with runner-up being Rob Gandley on 37
points and Jim Fortune in third position, also with 37 points. Five players
returned 35 points and in a tense count-back for fourth place yours truly
nabbed it having scored 19 points on the back nine.
Thursday’s
top three: Ian Campbell, David Clamp and Rob Gandley.
Near pin dividends in course order were won by yours truly C3, Mick and
Willy shared C6, Mike King A2 and newcomer Bernie Segrave A6.
Mike King had an excellent day at the office, flying himself home also with
the 200 baht for the longest first putt on the 18th green.
Thursday, June 11, Phoenix Mountain & Lakes (white tees) - Stableford
It is always a pleasure for most of us to play Phoenix and as usual the
course and facilities were up to their high standards.
David Clamp saw the benefit of his hard work on the practice range translate
into the winning score of 41 points, earning him a manual handicap
reduction. Well done David. Rob Gandley made it a case of bridesmaid twice
in a row being runner up with 37 points. Ian Campbell and Bob Drumm rounded
out the rostrum in third and fourth places with 36 and 35 points
respectively.
Jim Walton had two near pin dividends, Leroy Huntingdon another and Willy
Nachbur the fourth and also the longest first putt on the 18th green.
Aka O’Reilly took his toy yapper for a walk when he went to his local for a
beer last week. A waitress at the bar was ever so excited to meet Aka’s dog
because she also has a toy yapper but hers is a bitch and was on heat. She
eagerly enquired what payment was required for the services of Aka’s dog.
Thinking of his dog’s probable wants Aka replied ‘pleasure’. Strolling home
in the dusk Aka reflected how thinking of his best friend had resulted in a
bounce on the house for both of them.

about the group’s format please visit P J Pool Bar & Restaurant on Soi

Jomtien Golf with the IPGC
Monday, June 8, Pattana – Stableford
A last minute switch from the A course saw us playing the B and C
nines on an almost perfect day for golf with some cloud coverage and a
gentle breeze, which is unusual at this location.
Billie,
Ya, Nom and Nit at Eastern Star.
Gordon Everingham won division 2 with an even par 36 points, Bryan Rought
was in second on 34 and ‘Count back’ Burnie finished third with 27.
On his last game before his departure back to China, John McLoone’s 35
points was enough to win division 1 with Mikael Andersson in second two
points behind, and Georges Faber beat Keith Hector on an 8/7 back six count
back for third after they both came in with 30 points.
There were no rollovers in the ‘2’s and with a birdie on the second hole on
the C course Georges Faber picked up the only prize in division 1.
Commiserations to Jack Hinchey in division 2 for his tee shot on the first
par three on the B course ending in the water and his second tee shot
finishing one inch from the hole. At least it saved him a few baht back at
the bar later.
Wednesday, June 10, Green Valley – Stableford
Five 4-balls out today and with nobody here we tee’d off 25
minutes ahead of our scheduled slot. After heavy rain overnight we thought
it might be another rain check round similar to our last two here, but we
were in luck today on two counts; a few heavy clouds in the distance soon
disappeared, and with a mix up in the bookings we have been offered St.
Andrew’s in a fortnight’s time for the same cost as today.
Count back Burnie came home with 37 points to win division 2 with William
Chang second two points behind and Tony Sawers finishing third after beating
Evan Millar on a back nine count back of 18/16, both on 34 points.
An amazing two cards were handed in from division 1 with 39 points on each
and Roy Thornton’s 21 on the back nine pipped Bill Hewitt by one; he still
celebrated with a few more Singhas back at Siam Cats afterwards. Mikael
Andersson came in third with 36 points.
A double and triple rollover ensued in the 2’s to Plutaluang in both
divisions.
It was bon voyage to Georges Faber today and next week it will be the same
for William Chang for 3 months, see you all in September.
Friday, June 12, Eastern Star – Stableford
Our first ladies independent competition and with seven out they
thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Nit Watcharaphin beat Miss Nom on a back nine
count-back of 21/20 after they both came in with 36 points. Nit was a happy
lady, but Nom was also smiling with the only ‘2’ of the day.
Bengt Bort won the men’s division with 36 points, with Jim Lane in second
place one point behind and Tom Sathrum third with 34 points.
High scores at Greenwood
IPGC Pattaya Golf Society at Rabbi’s Elephant Bar
The Pattaya Golf Society visited Greenwood on Tuesday, June
9 to play a stableford competition over the C and A nines and found the
course in good condition and relatively empty, always a bonus.
Injury and illness had affected the size of the field with many regulars
missing but the single flight was treated to some fine golf. Fourth place
was shared by Erik Anttonen and Bill Pickersgill, poles apart in handicap,
both on 37 points. In third with 38 points was Margaret Wilkinson, again
showing she could compete with the men and to see her name in the placings
is always a pleasure.
The victory was shared by Emiel van der Wiele and Wichai Tananusorn, both
shooting forty points and Wichai’s gross of 77 was as good a round as he has
ever played. For once he was able to contain the exuberance of his swing and
harness his rhythm and power to good effect. He also had one of the day’s
pair of birdie 2’s, sharing the pot with Aussie visitor Brian Shaw.
Chris Voller’s day lacked all the usual features; he had no luck, gained no
merit points, scored no ‘2’s and travelled alone. To mark his memorable day
he was also awarded the Booby Bevy, much to the joy of the presentation
party. Revenge will be on the agenda at Bangpra next time out, no doubt!
Thompson tops at Bangpra
The PGS chose to visit Bangpra International Golf Club on
Thursday, June 11, for a stableford competition over the recently revamped
course. As usual the track was well prepared but with greens a little slower
than expected, probably a result of the heavy rains at the course recently.
There was just one flight this time and in fourth place was a reborn Mikael
Andersson with 34 points, which he considered disappointing after a front
nine total of twenty points. In third place was Paul McNally and his gross
of 76 gave him 35 points for memories of a good day. Runner-up was Kazu
Agune with the diminutive Japanese again showing his consistency as he
racked up 36 points. The winner was Stuart Thompson, still recovering from
extensive shoulder surgery last year, and his 38 points showed the form of
which he is capable.
The day’s birdie ‘2’s pot was shared by Erik Anttonen and Kazuo Takimoto.
Bangpra on an “empty” day such as this was/is a pleasure to play and always
set for a tight competition.
Micky’s on the mend
Green Valley hosted the Pattaya Golf Society on Saturday, June 13
for their weekend stableford event and an early start to avoid the “rush
hour” worked well as the group took to the tee early and made good progress
through the day. The course was good the greens were a little slow by the
club’s usual standard, but thankfully the day stayed fine.
The single flight was quality all the way with only two golfers handicapped
above sixteen and Chris Voller shared third place with Erik Anttonen on 33
points. n second place, performing well in a relaxed group, was Len Jones
and his level par 36 points represented his best performance on his home
course for a month or two. The day’s plaudits were reserved for Mikael
Andersson whose wilderness days may well be behind him as he powered his way
to forty points for a splendid win. This, despite the nagging reminders of
the “yips” with putts inside four feet. It was a relief for Mikael after his
“annus horribilis” last year. He also scored the day’s best gross and took
the sole birdie ‘2’ award for the day.
All in all it was a memorable day and for Wichai Tananusorn there was the
Booby Bevy after a week which started with forty points at Greenwood and
degenerated to a low point at Green Valley. He’ll be looking to improve next
week at Green Valley, as will a few others.
Sweet success for Apple
PSC golf from The Outback Golf Bar
Joey’s column
Monday, June 8, Burapha - Stableford
Messrs Kissy, Cottee & Pottsy sound like a Perth firm of
solicitors, but they are in fact a group of three Outbackers, part of the 35
who played the A & B nines from the tough blue tees.
Wednesday’s
top three from the outing to Mountain Shadow: Joe Mooneyham, ‘Moorie’ and
Capt’ Bob.
The Outback ‘home course’ was in its usual great condition with some speedy
greens and an excellent pace of play which always makes for a good day out.
The weather was also very pleasant with no sign of rain.
Cottee, aka Wayne Cotterell found himself in fourth place in Div A with 34
points following his win at Green Valley the previous Thursday, beaten for
third on count back by Eddie Blackwell, also on 34. The ever consistent Joe
Mooneyham took second with 35 points, but the top spot went to the other
half of the Blackwell duo, Apple (h’cap 11), with a very good 38 points,
this time from the red tees. The previous Friday Apple had secured fourth
place at Pattana, playing from the men’s tees off h’cap 16.
David Davies, who has not long returned from Sidney, found his bit of form
to win Div B with a fine 37 points, from course specialist Frank O’Neill on
35.
Welcome back to three good mates of Capt’ Bob’s; Moorie, Dalby & Bryce who
arrived from Aus, and thanks for the gifts, boys. Thanks also for the GPS
gizmo’s, shortly to be made available for hire at the Outback, when the
General has finished mapping the courses; no wonder he only scored 22 today.
Finally, it’s good-bye to the lovable little bookie, John Spiller, returning
to the rails of Newmarket, Goodwood & York to relieve some punters of their
hard earned cash. Good luck mate!
There were five ‘2’s coming from Eddie & Apple, Bruce McAdam, Art O’Connor &
Bryce Stick.

1st Apple Blackwell (11) 38pts
2nd Joe Mooneyham (12) 35pts

1st David Davies (26) 37pts
2nd Frank O’Neill (16) 35pts

4th Murray Hart (16) 34pts
Tuesday, June 9, Pattaya C.C. - Stableford
It was another perfect day for golf at Pattaya Country Club when
the 15 Outbackers arrived to the usual warm welcome from the friendly PCC
staff. Playing with them were three Australian mates of Capt’ Bob, here
again to meet up with many of the friends they knew from last year. The
weather continued to be kind to us during the four hours we were on the
course with some wind getting up later.
Back in the clubhouse and the scores were be checked by organiser Barry
Chadbourn, only to find one card with no name, no handicap and just scores
noted. By a process of elimination it was found to be one of Capt’ Bob’s
Aussie mates, Brent Dalby, who was in fourth position with 35 points. Not a
bad oversight for a Golf Manager back home, however after some discussion it
was decided that the score would count! But next time…
The three Aussies, Ian, Brent & Bryce, all did well with each getting a
little something. There were two 37’s with Ian Moore (4) winning on count
back from regular Outbacker Alan Pearce (19). It was also a count back for
third and fourth with the ‘stunning’ John Lawton (16) just beating the
aforesaid Brent (14), both having 35 points.
There were four ‘2’s today from: Alan Pearce, Bryce Stick, Suzi Lawton and
Geoff Moodie.
The Outback Golf Bar play at the local Pattaya Country Club each Tuesday at
around 9.30 a.m.
1st Ian Moore (4) 37pts
2nd Alan Pearce (19) 37pts
3rd John Lawton (16) 35pts
4th Brent Dalby (14) 35pts
Wednesday, June 10, Mountain Shadow - Stableford
After the disastrous visit to Crystal Bay the previous week,
there was some trepidation amongst the 19 Outbackers over this trip to the
sister course, Mountain Shadow. However, it’s a pleasure to report that the
difference is like chalk and cheese. Teeing off ahead of time, the fairways
were found to be firm and in good condition, together with the undulating
greens that showed no signs of neglect, being their usual tricky pace.
It was a good pace of play but the Outbackers were found wanting, as many of
them failed to cope with this testing, but short little course.
The cream always rises to the top and it did today by way of Ian Moore, aka
Moorie, as Capt’ Bob & his mates call him, firing a very ordinary 32 points
to win the day, three clear of the next player and the only person to break
thirty. Joe Mooneyham (29pts) couldn’t believe his second place any more
than Capt’ Bob with the same score, whilst 27 points from both Peter
Stonebridge and Geoff Doody was enough to earn them fourth and fifth places
respectively.
There were just two ‘2’s from Bob Philp & Henry O’Brien
1st Ian Moore (4) 32pts
2nd Joe Mooneyham (12) 29pts
3rd Bob Philp (5) 29pts
4th Peter Stonebridge (16) 27pts
5th Geoff Doody (21) 27pts
Thursday, June 11, Green Valley - Stableford
Eighteen Outbackers turned out today to play the ever popular
Green Valley course. They were spread-eagled by Apple Jitchana (aka
Blackwell), with an incredible 41 points playing from the same tees (white)
as the men, off a handicap of 16 (now 14). Well played Apple!
Some six points behind was the ‘stunning’ John Lawton with 35, just beating
his good mate Chad, on count back. The remaining podium places were filled
by Dalby and Chris Davisson, who had the only ‘2’.
Finally, a big welcome back to Alan Campbell playing his first game since
returning from Scotland.
1st Apple Blackwell (16) 41pts
2nd John Lawton (16) 35pts
3rd Barry Chadbourn (19) 35pts
4th Brent Dalby (14) 34pts
5th Chris Davisson (12) 34pts
Friday, June 12, Siam Plantation - Stableford
This was to be the final swan song for the Outback Golf Bar at
the wonderful Plantation course, just up the road, playing the Sugarcane and
Tapioca Nines. Twelve Outbackers played, using up the store of free green
vouchers held by The Outback from previous visits and their assistance with
the Honda LGPA.
Why, one must ask, do the directors of this course seem to be destined to
drive golfers away with their ridiculous pricing policy? Not content with
that, they have now removed all permissions for ‘blue flags’, resulting in
one Outbacker being unable to play today.
The course was in pristine condition, well it would be with the amount of
golf not being played, but it was absolutely great to be back there, with
the smiling staff all pleased to see Capt’ Bob, Jack, Rosco, Joe, Paul,
Alan, Harvey and a couple of more Bobs, many with their regular caddies
equally happy to be in attendance. The management would change the ways
tomorrow if they could, but it’s not to be; so bye bye to Plantation for the
foreseeable future and hello to Laem Chabang, starting Friday, June 19.
Moorie showed his true talent once again, scoring 37 points (75 gross) on a
course he’d never played before, from Paul Greenaway (knows Siam Old Course
well) on 34. The other minor places went to Bob Pearce, beating Jack on
count back, both with 32.
There was just one ‘2’ coming from that man again, Moorie, who will be
playing off 3 for the remainder of his holiday.
1st Ian Moore (4) 37pts
2nd Paul Greenaway (9) 34pts
3rd Bob Pearce (13) 32pts
4th Jack Moseley (11) 32pts
Friday, June 12, The Emerald - Stableford
There were 19 Outbackers who took Route 36 for a visit to today’s
second venue, The Emerald - despite at presentation time Capt’ Bob beginning
to announce the results from Green Valley (It’s Friday Bob).
Once again we found virtually a deserted course with, it would appear, just
ourselves and our friends from The Beaver Bar, who were playing here 2 hours
ahead of us.
The course was in good condition from both the recent rain and lack of
numbers playing. Whilst the greens were speedy some had been damaged from
being mowed too low on the slopes. Most enjoy a game at The Emerald but at
present their green fees are out of kilter with other local courses.
A big welcome back was given today to Don Frances, who we’ve not seen for
some time.
With just one division, the winners were from first to fifth. Mark Rigall
(17) was the best of the day with 38 points, closely followed by ‘Kathy’s
Man’ Geoff Doody (21) with 37 points. Third place went to Bob Noble (21)
with 36 and in fourth place was a visitor from Australia, Wayne Cotterell
(12) with 34 points. The final place and the only ‘2’ went to ‘Pottsy’ aka
Campbell Potts (19) with 33.
1st Mark Riggall (17) 38pts
2nd Geoff Doody (21) 37pts
3rd Robert Noble (21) 36pts
4th Wayne Cotterell (12) 34pts
5th Campbell Potts (19) 33pts

Natdanai wins 1st Level
Tennis Tournament
The final of the 1st Level Tennis Tournament was held on
June 6-7 between Natdanai Tripataraporn from Thailand and Farruh Khaitov
from Kazakhstan, with the winner being Natdanai by a score of 8-1.
International
Players Academy director CJ Colburn (left) with Natdanai Tripataraporn and
Farruh Khaitov.
This was the 1st LTT tournament held in Pattaya by the International Players
Academy. The tournament was interesting because it combined both boys and
girls in the same draw. Tennis players from Europe, Thailand, India, and
Japan participated with ages ranging from 7 to 13.
CJ Colburn from the International Players Academy said, “Most tournaments in
Thailand are either open or age group divided competitions, but this was
divided into players abilities. This is a relatively new concept for
Thailand and will raise the level of interest in tennis because it includes
the lower level players.” Colburn said his goal is to raise the level of
interest in tennis through teaching, coaching and conducting tournaments
here in Pattaya and will hold the next tournament within the month.
Coca Cola was the official sponsor of the event which was held at the TPS
Courts on Thepprasit Rd. The event was organized by Director CJ and Rung
Colburn through the International Players Academy.
Old dogs throw new tricks in Pattaya softball
PSC Sunday Softball
The softball gang after a great
double header of action.
Diego Wells
Hitting season is now officially over thanks to the return of our
old pitching dogs, Perry and Alan. The 2 elder statesmen put a halt to the
hitting parade that our batters have been enjoying for over a month. Even
the new, juiced up ball was no match for the crafty tosses of our
sexagenarians.
The highlight of the day was Alan and his team earning a record that can be
tied, but can never be beaten. He accomplished the impossible in Pattaya
softball, throwing a complete seven inning game shutout against Perry’s team
in game one. For the highs and lows of the week, enjoy the following game
summaries.
Game 1
Alan’s Anteaters played bigger then Perry’s Purple Helmet team,
to win game 1. Alan, playing in his first game back in months, was a
magician on the mound. He made history by constantly confusing batters on
Perry’s team and throwing a complete game shutout (remember, this is lob
pitch softball, so it is quite an accomplishment).
John
CF and his unique Cricketesque style of hitting.
He was aided by strong defensive performances from Ernie in left, Rick at
shortstop and Rocky in right. Their timely snags of the ball stymied the
Purple Helmets time and time again. The big bats of Diego, Mark, John
Stockton and Perry himself were silenced, as the entire Anteater team played
near flawless defense.
Perry was no slouch either on the mound, lobbing 3 scoreless innings until
the Anteaters bats warmed up. Rick hit the lone homerun of the game in the
fourth, followed by a 2 RBI double from Dave in the fifth. The Anteaters
added an insurance run in the sixth with consecutive hits from Bryan, Ernie
and Shawn to close out the Purple Helmets 4-0 and earn the record.
Game 2
One retirement was enough to even out the teams for game 2. Alan,
officially citing exhaustion as the cause (it was really because he had no
way to top game 1’s performance) decided to sit out game 2, and Steve came
in to relieve him.
However, Steve soon needed more then relief, as he pulled his hamstring
trying to beat out an infield single in the second. Jim-Bob ended up
pitching a pretty good game for the Anteaters, but the injury and retirement
took its toll on their overall defense.
The Helmets bats awoke from their slumber, not wanting to lose both ends of
the double header. A change in the batting order got the most out of the
Purple Helmets. Co- MVP of the day (with record winning pitcher Alan), Nick
led off, and went a perfect 10 for 10 on the day. Phil, found his hitting
form finally, on his first week back in a month, and Diego, Mark, and
California Rick got back into the swing of things.
The Anteaters started strongly, scoring 5 in the first, but the Helmets
never gave up. They countered with 2 in the bottom of the inning, and three
in the third to even the score at 5. Perry’s pitching was a problem for the
Anteaters in this game, as their bats went cold. Hard hits by John E,
Scotty, Rick and Bryan got 2 more runs for the Anteaters in the fourth to
give them a brief and short lived 7-5 lead.
Perry’s team countered with a homerun from Nick and 2 RBIS from Nakata to go
up 8-7. Six runs in the sixth by the Purple Helmets ensured they would not
go winless on the day. The Anteaters rallied in the last, but they fell 3
runs short, losing the game 14 – 11 in yet another exciting softball
afternoon.
It was great to see a lot of old faces return to Pattaya Softball, and for
them to bring in some new faces as well. Phil and Alan were warmly welcomed
back by all, having completed their Pattaya business. Rick and Ernie are
back from the States and played extremely well, despite gaining a bit of a
tire from eating all that lovely processed NA food. Rocky brought along his
buddy Steven, who improved as the day went along.
Meanwhile John Eden’s buddy Steve showed potential on the pitching mound. He
is on his way to becoming a regular, and even earned his first official
Pattaya Softball injury (well done, young man!).
We are an eclectic outfit who value an active lifestyle and the pursuit of
happiness. We play every Sunday at 1 p.m. in Jomtien, and are eager to
include any has-been or never-was, armchair athletes in and around Pattaya.
So why not get off your couch, or barstool and come on down to our “Field of
Dreams”?

Sabai Sabai Friday on the move
Pattaya Sports Club Bowling League
The team to watch in this league is Sabai Sabai Friday who
continue their march up the standings. This week they did not bowl well but
still took all four points from Bavaria and moved up from sixth to third
place. Sala Thai Restaurant remain in first place after winning three points
from Café Kronborg. Somrak had a 548 series for Sala Thai and Kran Nielsen
bowled a 233 game and 585 series for Café Kronborg.
200
Bowlers: Rich Montana and Kran Nielsen.
Brother D managed to hold on to second place after splitting their match

Gorgeous George Hamilton aka Bob Palmer, and the Palmers
Crew hosted the Sunshine Boys at Palmers Golf & Country Club. Steve (RS)
arrived with his self-medicating morphine drip in case things should go
astray. When a more than feisty Palmers team took the game, Steve said
something like ‘clucking bell’ and pushed the drip button several times,
apparently he went to a different planet and failed to see the Sunshine Boys
take the beer.
The Bunker Boys awaited the arrival of Cheers, Stan’s boys & girls reminding
The Bunker that darts is a funny old game, The Bunker Boys only just holding
on to win 5-4. Steve (B) checked out on 77 by scoring 2/25/bull.
The Posse galloped into Soi Yamoto, tethered their horses up outside Mee
Chew, and then disappeared into the depths of the dungeon. Melly’s crew took
both the honors with Kenny checking out the beer for a 3rd week running. Jim
(OK) has not been seen since Friday evening; apparently he is still
wandering around the catacombs in Mee Chew.
O’Leary’s played host to Blue Mountain where Fon led the coffee shop quartet
to a game and beer victory.
Top of the table Lucky Time played away to bottom of the table Stars. After
taking the game, Team Lucky Time then forgot how to throw a dart; comments
muttered by Lucky Time players as they pulled their darts out of the board
are not suitable for this publication! The beer leg could have gone either
way, the finish going to Colin (LTB).
Player/celebrity look-alikes: 2 nominations again this week: Stan (Cheers)
/Uncle Albert (Only Fools and Horses), and from an anonymous e-mail address
(I think it is Lance), Me/ Bob Todd (the gormless bald bloke from the Benny
Hill Show). And finely, Welsh Ian (LTB) has lost one of his shoes (I know,
but don’t ask me), if anyone finds a spare right shoe (size 10, black, and
in need of a good polish) please report its whereabouts to me. Ian is fed up
of hopping everywhere!
