City wins bronze for being disabled friendly

After Pattaya City won a bronze prize for providing good access at its offices for disabled users in a nation-wide competition, the city mayor vows to do better and aims to win first prize in the award next year.
A bronze honorary plate and 10,000 baht in cash were awarded by the 2008 Friendly Official Location for Disabled People competition run by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security.
Other organizations and businesses in Pattaya also won prizes for providing good access for disabled people: the Alangkarn Theater won 3rd prize in the tourist destination category, the Hard Rock Hotel won 2nd prize in the accommodation category and the Pattaya Redemptorists won 2nd prize as a foundation for disabled people.

It was a blazing hot day for the Rotary Club of Jomtien Pattaya’s annual cross bay swim on Sunday, October 12.

PILC organized food drop on October 3

This month the Pattaya International Ladies Club Welfare Team organized for the Fountain of Life staff and children to receive the food that we would normally donate to Kate’s Project. The staff at the FOL help us every month to purchase the food from the Sattahip Naval Base. The staff along with the older children from the FOL then bag up the food for the monthly deliveries.

Dabber nabs the Green Jacket
at TQ Masters

Everything cooperated in making the 15th running of the TQ Masters, Pattaya’s oldest running golf tournament, a grand success. The weather was pleasant, aided by a cloud-covered sky, and the rains, that make October tournaments risky, stayed away.

Surapon Pongtatsirikul arrived on October 19 to take up his post as a new Chonburi governor after transferring from Srakaew Province. Surapon and his wife Prisana Pongtatsirikul, who is now president of the Chonburi Red Cross Society, were welcomed by deputy governors Montien Thongnid and Chatpong Chatphooti, Chonburi permanent secretary Pornchai Kwansakul, and his constituents.

If you judge an ethnic restaurant by the number of nationals eating there, then Spices was looking good before we even sat down. It was obviously a very popular venue with Indian visitors. In fact, restaurant manager ‘Tony’ told us that his restaurant had been selected by the Bollywood film producers to feed cast and crew when in Pattaya.
