Tourism arrivals plunge 20-30% following violence in Bangkok
The Tourism Authority of Thailand has stated that the political problems in
Bangkok, with a State of Emergency announced by the government on September 1,
have resulted in a sharp drop in tourism arrivals.
The director of TAT Central Region 3, Chonburi, Niti Kongkrut said that the
immediate effect has been a fall of between 20 and 30 percent in the number of
people visiting Thailand.
As the present time is the low season for tourism, there is as yet no indication
from the main markets as to what will happen when the high season gets underway
later this year.

Happy Birthday to Chef Vinai - the one good thing about
being the executive chef of Jameson’s the Irish Pub is that you get
to bake your own cake and celebrate with all your friends, including the

Tim’s Place
The Dining Out Team was alerted to
Tim’s Place a couple of months ago and we went round to see if it was as good as
its reputation. There was only one thing wrong with that plan - the ever
energetic roads department had decided to dig up Soi Chaiyapruek 1 in Jomtien
(again!), and you needed an all-terrain vehicle to get there.
