Plauderstunde - German speaking
ladies group visits Camillian Center
Elfi Seitz
Many people know the Camillian Center near Rayong as a home for
HIV-infected people who take care of others with AIDS, but the center is
not just for adults. There are 44 children there, all of them infected
with HIV, and they too call the Camillian Center, which was founded by
Father Giovanni Contarin a few years ago, their home.
The German language ladies group Plauderstunde has been collecting money
regularly to help the children. On January 6 they went again to the home
to present Father Giovanni with 28,000 baht. Of course, there were also
lots of sweets in the basket for the children, many of whom were at
school on that day, but the visitors had a lot of fun with those who
stayed behind, playing football and other games with them.
Georgina of the USA, the good soul of the home and Johnny from
Luxemburg, together with Father Giovanni showed the group around and
they visited all the facilities.
After a long time playing with the kids, all went to the center’s
“department store”, where handicrafts are on display and can be
purchased.

Father Giovanni explains
the network system of the home to Elfi and Monika.

Top Thai model Cindy-Sirinya Burbridge on January 7 paid
a visit with her husband of six months Byron Bishop, her parents, and
former Miss Thailand World Helen Pathumrat Woramalee to the Camillian
Center in Rayong.
Cindy and everyone joined in the activities and games and greatly
enjoyed the Joe Conrad magic show, as did all the children at the
center.
Camillian Center supports HIV sufferers and last-stage AIDS patients,
taking care of those who can no longer take care of themselves. The
center also has a section for children orphaned by AIDS, and for HIV
infected children. There is also a shelter for poor AIDS patients and
people abandoned by their families.
Cindy said that each year her family comes to participate in the
children’s New Year activities, helping to assure the youngsters that
they are still loved and accepted, and that they are no different to any
other child.
