PILC and the big clean-up

PILC members donned gloves and grabbed scrub brushes to give the Ban Jing Jai Children’s’ Home a good cleaning.

Helle Rantsén, PILC welfare chairperson, recently organized a big clean-up at Ban Jing Jai Children’s’ Home, helped by an enthusiastic group of PILC volunteers, some of whom brought along their own Thai housekeeping staff for the day. Even Helle’s own parents, Tove and Mowen, rolled up their sleeves and set to with scrubbing brushes and vacuum cleaner, before returning to their native Denmark that same evening!
The two houses, situated close to the Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya, are home to around 60 children, with one house for the boys and one for the girls. Although the project is not one of PILC’s adopted charities so far, Helle felt that a day of elbow grease simply to make the homes cleaner and more comfortable for the kids would be a free-of-charge help to all concerned.
Cleaning products were bought, rubber gloves donned, and we set to work. It was hot and thirsty work, and we were very pleased to have the lunch provided by Roseanne Diamente at noon. Unfortunately we didn’t get to see the children, who were all either at school or the Fountain of Life daycare centre, but Helle reports that staff and children were delighted with the help offered, and we hope that we may be able to do more in the future.

The YWCA held its first monthly meeting of the year at the Green Bottle Pub on the 10th of January. Sopin Thappajug, a member and great supporter of YWCA for many years joined the meeting, as did Gerry Carpenter, president of the Pattaya Sports Club and Bernie Tuppin, PSC charity chairman all of whom pledged to continue their support during the coming year by presenting Nittaya Patimasongkroh, president of YWCA, with a huge bouquet.

Jim Lumsden, secretary of the Pattaya Gay Festival, presents the ladies with 50,000 baht on behalf of himself, Boyz Boyz Boyz and the Ambience Hotel.
Another guest of honor was Jim Lumsden, secretary of the Pattaya Gay Festival. He presented the ladies with 50,000 baht on behalf of himself, Boyz Boyz Boyz and the Ambience Hotel. Jim was of great help for the ladies at the ball “A Night on a Dream Boat”, sponsoring all the decorations, 20 liters of wine, six very expensive raffle prizes, as well as three shows from Boyz Boyz Boyz. Since he is doing a lot of charity work himself, he understands the efforts of the ladies and likes to help them and has promised yet more support in the years to come.

Medium makes rare visit and offers workshops for healing

Allan Sherratt
The notable medium, Jennifer Mackenzie is in Pattaya again and had consented to talk to the Pattaya City Expats Club on New Year’s Day. She spoke about her work as a healer, and the means by which we as individuals can use our energy forces to provide healing to others.

Jennifer gave an impromptu healing session with a volunteer from the audience.

She demonstrated her reading of colours associated with people, and discussed their meaning as they reflected the different aspects of the life forces within us. She also gave an impromptu healing session with a volunteer from the audience - her subject was very impressed with her diagnosis of the medical problems he was having.
It is to be noted that Jennifer was, for the latter part of this activity, imbued with her “guide” and became transformed, seeming to perform the motions of her guide. In answer to a question, she said that her guide is an old Chinese man who lived some time ago.
During her time here in Thailand Jennifer will be available for private healings and readings. As a spiritual and trance healer, Jennifer works in a holistic way, and is guided to individual needs through meditation, Kraal yoga, aura soma, colour, crystals and reflexology. Clinical Hypnotherapy has proved very successful through ‘regression’ - as a way of helping with many emotional problems and addictions - especially smoking and ‘past-life’ regression for unblocking and self-discovery.
For more information about Jennifer you may visit her website at www.jennifermackenzie.com. Jennifer is available while in Pattaya for private sessions, including private sittings (30 minutes), healing (30 minutes), hypnotherapy session (1 hour), and past-life regression (1 hour 15 minutes).
To book a private sitting, healing, hypnotherapy session, past-life regression, the class or a workshop, please make an appointment with Helen Halland at the PCEC Sunday morning meeting at 10:30 a.m. at Henry J. Beans Restaurant on Beach Road, or send your request by email to [email protected]

Red means go as Thai Post adopts new brand identity and service goals

January 9 saw a new livery for Thailand’s postal service with buildings, transport and uniforms made over in the distinctive new red color and featuring the world arcs logo.
This is part of a process that began in September 2003, when the postal service separated from the Communications Authority of Thailand and was established as Thailand Post Co Ltd. Adopting the symbol of a flying envelop the service began changing to better meet the modern and businesslike demands being placed upon mail delivery.
Suchat Srimongkolkarn, Banglamung Post Office chief, said that IT is now an important element of the system, with a track and trace process and a one-day express delivery. A fresh red color has been adopted for Thai Post, for instant identification, and brand name recognition is being built up through various services and activities.
The intention is, said Suchat, to provide an entirely modern service that provides a reliable connection link for the Thai general public and the business sector. To do this, quality is the key, and delivering on promises is at the forefront of Thai Post’s strategy.

The crème de la crème of the Dutch community in Pattaya, along with guests of many other nationalities, came to join in a Buddhist ceremony of pouring scared water to bless the partnership of Gerard Lemmers and his long-time partner Amporn “Paeh” Sribunruang.
The ceremonies were held at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort’s Royal Wing on December 27, 2005.
After the water ceremony, for which many of the guests wore traditional Thai dress, there was a Buddhist prayer and a sermon by monks. The big party after all the ceremonies was held at the beautiful gardens of the Royal Wing. Gerard had ordered everything to make his many guests feel welcome and comfortable, and they in turn had brought presents in the form of donations for an old people’s home in Khon Kaen.
Not only were wonderful food and drinks served, but also two brilliant entertainers, Isabelle de Valvert from France and Ivo van der Bijl from Holland took care that the mood of the guests grew better and better as the festivities progressed.
Highlight of the party was the cutting of the 50-layer wedding cake, and a song by a choir of Gerard’s Dutch friends. Fireworks marked a tremendous end to the party.
Gerard Lemmers is a well-known personality in Pattaya. He is founder of the Gé Laurent foundation, which is very much involved with the Rotary Club of Jomtien-Pattaya and their Road Safety Project.

The Dutch community in Pattaya, along with guests of many other nationalities, attended the Buddhist ceremony of pouring scared water to bless the partnership of Gerard Lemmers and Amporn “Paeh” Sribunruang.

PILC goes to the circus

The PILC was able to offer a great evening out at the circus recently for some of the children who are supported through various PILC activities.

With the Royal London Circus extending its run past the New Year, PILC was able to offer a great evening out recently to some of the children who are supported through various PILC activities. The circus generously arranged free admission for the youngsters, and only the adults accompanying the children had to pay for themselves. “I think some of the members of PILC wanted to go to the circus themselves, so this is a wonderful opportunity to share an event with some of the children we help,” said Sharon Tibbitts, president, who accompanied the kids.
Also joining in the fun were the “quilting” girls from the Phu Luang centre, with Khun Tiew, their adopted “Auntie”, enjoying the event herself. Phu Luang is now in its second year, and the girls have completed many beautiful quilts for customers all around the world. Many of the PILC members order quilts as special gifts for loved ones in colder climes, and the centre, which is situated a short way out of Pattaya, is well worth a visit.
All the children seemed to enjoy the show, which included trapeze artists, jugglers, dancers, dancing dogs and horses, and a spectacular motorcycle “Wall of Death” show. Many thanks indeed to the Royal London Circus for their generosity in helping with this fantastic night out!
