Joseph Upatham School visits Regent’s to learn about IDEALS
On Monday October 31, a delegation of teachers from The
Joseph Upatham School in Nakhon Pathom visited the Regent’s School,
Pattaya. Their main objective was to experience the working day at
Regent’s and to learn as much as they could about how Regent’s delivers
the 6 Pillars of the Round Square, IDEALS (international understanding,
democracy, environmental awareness, adventure, leadership and service to
others) to our students.
Regent’s
head students welcome the delegates from Joseph Upatham School at the
entrance of the Round Square complex.

The visitors were met at the front of the Primary Round
Square complex by the head students, Ishita and Kung. A tour of the primary
school was then led by the senior members of the primary Round Square
Council, Sea and Nancy, finishing with refreshments outside the Globe
theatre. The delegation was then joined by 10 senior students that
represented a fraction of the secondary Round Square Council. They
included: prefects, senior house captains, pillar leaders, RS leaders and
delegates, Global Connects, Boarder’s Council members and the executive
positions of the Student Guild (chairperson, secretary and treasurer).
After refreshments an hour’s presentation was
delivered by Mr. Mike Walton, the head of Regent’s, Mr. Paul Crouch and
Kung, explaining the history of Round Square and how the Regent’s
delivers IDEALS through the curriculum, activities, house system, service
projects, international exchanges and scholarships, International Award,
Amnesty International, and democratic systems set up by the students to
allow leadership and decision making within the school’s community
(councils and guilds).
Lunch was taken and then a tour of the secondary school
building, led by the secondary Student Guild. By mid-afternoon the visit
was over and gifts were exchanged under the Regent’s clock tower.
The delegates from Joseph Upatham School kindly invited
Regent’s to visit their school and to work closely on developing IDEALS
at their school in the future, and help prepare students for life as global
citizens after school and university.
