Announcements
This month at the North Star Library features the latest
Harry Potter book. The children and teenagers’ room will run a Harry
Potter theme with movies on Saturdays and Sundays. The whole series of books
are now available for borrowing in both Thai and English. The latest book is
not yet translated into Thai, but will be in the library as soon as it is
released. Book readings continue on Saturdays for children in both Thai and
English. The library has an interesting range of fiction, and reference books,
including some out of print Early Thai books. The extensive video library is
now available for rent, and has some excellent old movies, classics, as well
as modern movies. Thursday afternoon activities include mahjong playing, from
1 p.m. onwards. There is a fee to join the library, on a 6 monthly or 12
monthly basis. A fee of 50 baht applies for non-members. North Star Library is
located on Sukhumvit Road, south of the Vocational College.
Calling All Vendors! The Pattaya International Ladies
Club will be the host for a big Holiday Bazaar at the Royal Cliff
Beach Resort on October 8. PILC says, “We are planning the bazaar right now
and because we would like to see some new vendors among the old ones, we are
asking for your help.” If you are a vendor and you would like to join the

Clubs
The main speaker at the Pattaya City Expats Club meeting
on Sunday August 21 will be Dr. Sureerat Panyarachun from Bangkok-Pattaya
Hospital’s Cardiology Department. Dr Sureerat, an international associate of
the American College of Cardiology and a member of the Society of
Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, is a consultant and
international cardiologist at the Heart Center. Dr. Sureerat is has published
articles on cardiovascular risk factors and use of beta-blockers in chronic
congestive heart failure. The meeting takes place at Henry J. Bean’s in the
grounds of the Amari Orchid Resort on North Pattaya Beach Road and starts at
10.30 with a buffet breakfast is available from 9.30 a.m. and is open to

The Pattaya International Ladies Club September
