ATM theft happens in England, too

Editor;
Re ATM: Having just returned back to Pattaya for another three months, I read about missing money from ATM accounts.

In England this is happening all the time. A man sits in a car at an ATM and watches people put in their card. He has already inserted a (a tool) in the machine which copies your card and records it on his laptop. A small camera has been attached above the machine, the size of a button, which you will not notice unless you look up, to record your pin.

What you have to before entering your pin is put your hand over, before, so no one can see your pin. This man will be looking, so beware.

It is also best to not use outside ATMs; go inside shops, Tesco, etc., as it is a lot safe to do this.

Beware of birds in the middle of town

The Editor;
We should have all heard of catastrophes. Endemics, even pandemics, and if we could speak to the victims of the tsunami and bird flu, I believe they would have said, “It can’t happen here” or “It cannot happen to me”. History showed they are absolutely wrong.

Prevention is better than cure, and a stitch in time saves nine. So how can a supposedly aware, caring and hopefully responsible council allow the condition, even expansion, of a potential disaster, after they have been made aware of the situation? Right damn smack in what could be viewed as the center of Pattaya, between Soi Buakhao, and Sai Sarm, a very large number of both game fowl (that travel widely to fight) and waterfowl, are kept in what can be described as anything but ideal, but in fact, what is appalling conditions. This debacle is surrounded by many high rise buildings and one very large estate, which has visits from across the world constantly coming and going. The fowl in some places are 2/3 metres from the doors and windows of multiple apartments.

Bird flu travels, it has shown it can emerge in very diverse places, and has throughout Asia, including Thailand. The situation worsens as numbers increase. Contemplate for just a minute what a devastating affect on the economy of Pattaya and environs, and Thailand generally, if just one suspect bird flu case was to arise. Yet this time bomb ticks away, and nothing is done.

Please! Powers than be, do not fall into the trap of “It cannot happen here” or “To me” others have, and now know that it can and does. Please Mr Mayor Khun Niran Wattanasartsathorn, you must know the risks, and should be able to make right a very wrong situation. W.H.O. would be aghast! You may be averting a potential disaster. I care.

Yours faithfully,
Kittichai

Keep up the good work

Editor;
Hello my name is Steve and I live in Dallas, Texas in the US. I would like to say that your paper is very useful and you do a great job with keeping up with the local news as it happens in Pattaya. I do visit Thailand a lot and read your paper on line every week.

Keep up the great reporting that you do.
Sincerely,
Steve
