Bangkok Pattaya Hospital celebrates achieving Prime Minister’s Award
Dr. Iain Corness
Champagne flowed in the Royal Cliff Beach Resort’s
Grand Ballroom as the finale to a glittering evening hosted by the Bangkok
Pattaya Hospital to celebrate their winning the Prime Minister’s Export
Award this year.
Neera
Sirisampan, assistant director of international operations, introduces her
international assistance team who have been so great when it comes to
communicating with international patients and being part of the success of
the hospital.
With the hospital staff in shimmering cocktail dresses,
many hospital regulars at the function did not recognize them, but they all
knew who the guests were. And the celebrities and guests were there by the
hundreds to also celebrate the prestigious award with the hospital
management and personnel. Amongst these were Panga Vathanakul, MD of the
Royal Cliff; Sopin Thappajug, MD of the Diana Group; YWCA stalwarts
Premruedee Jittiwutthikarn and Nittaya Patimasongkroh, PILC President Sandy
Langford and many others ladies from the PILC, insurance folk Jack Levy,
Surin Janchalor, Paul Chow and Inga Dohlon; the residence manager of the
Scandinavian Village, Pontus Almlof; golf gurus Mike and Banjob Franklin,
Capital TV’s Les Nyerges, Diane Doell from the Victory Church, Virginia
Sorrensen from the local Filipino community, local GP’s Dr. Belen and Dr.
Olivier. It was a night for the Pattaya community to celebrate.
Bangkok
Pattaya Hospital Director
Dr. Pichit Kangwolkij expresses his appreciation
for all the staff who have helped the hospital achieve this prestigiuos
award.
Presided over by influential local politician Santsak
Ngampiches, the event began with an audio-visual presentation about the
hospital and its growth and development in the local community to become the
multi-specialist 210 bed hospital of today, complete with ISO 9001
certification.
The director of the hospital, Dr. Pichit Kangwolkij, gave
a short address thanking everyone for their part in making the hospital the
center of excellence that it had become, and now having been publicly
honoured by the Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. He was followed by the
managing director of the Bangkok General Group, Dr. Krittavith Lertutsahakul,
who gave another short address, adding his congratulations from the parent
group.
In the closing address given by Santsak Ngampiches, he
said that the award meant more than just a recognition of the capabilities
of the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, but also acknowledgement of the progress
that has gone on in Pattaya itself over the past 13 years since the hospital
was founded.
With the directors of the hospital surrounding him, plus
the mayor of Pattaya, Pairat Suthithamrongsawat, the ceremonial bottle of
bubbly was broached on the dais and the award acknowledged in fine style.
Later in the evening, the International Department took
to the stage to honour their mentor, Neera Sirisampan, one person who had
been such a driving force in the many public successes during the past eight
years of her work with the health care delivery through the hospital.
Discount dining - at Bruno’s?
Miss Terry Diner
There would not be too many of Pattaya’s ‘foodies’
who are not aware that there will be a new Bruno’s Restaurant opening on
the 1st of November at the Chateau Dale Plaza in Jomtien. However, there are
many who have not realized that the ‘old’ Bruno’s will be closing at
the end of this month (September) to allow transfer of equipment and decor
to the new premises, which will take all the month of October.
Obviously food supplies will not keep for one month in a
fine dining restaurant such as Bruno’s, so chef Fredi has come up with an
idea which will be remembered as the culinary bargain of the century!
For the final three nights, and as a kind of final fling,
there are ‘special deals’ like no others and as the marketing gurus
would say, “Never To Be Repeated Offers!” Take note of these. On Sunday
28th of September it is 50% off all food. On Monday 29th it is an ‘All You
Can Eat’ deal at B. 399 net, and as the final farewell to the old premises
there is the Farewell Set Menu at B. 499 net.
Offers like these will not be under subscribed, so it
will be necessary to book to avoid disappointment. Bruno’s telephones at
038 361 073 and 038 424 292 will be ringing hot, so keep trying till you get
through. What better way to remember ‘the old days’ than with one final
gastronomic fling? Discount dining is awaiting - for three days only!

Rotary Club Jomtien-Pattaya takes seniors for special outing at Nong Nooch Village
Elfi Seitz
The Rotary Club of Jomtien-Pattaya always plans some
great treats for special members of society. Peter Rottmann, this year’s
vocational service director of the club, organized an outing on September 8
for some 40 residents of the Banglamung Home for the Elderly.
Members
of the Rotary Club of Jomtien-Pattaya and 40 residents of the Banglamung
Home for the Elderly took an adventurous trip to Nong Nooch Village.
Promptly at 8 a.m. a truck full of elderly people arrived
at the gates of Nong Nooch Village, where a group of Rotarians and Interact
youths were waiting to assist them during their visit. All happy faces and
big smiles, the seniors were warmly welcomed by the staff.
The delighted group “awww’ed” and “ohhh’ed”
over the facility’s resident tigers, leopards and lions. The monkeys were
especially appreciated, since they had the good manners not to growl but to
shake hands.
After walking through village’s beautiful Orchid-farm
and the butterfly-garden, the visitors were treated to Nong Nooch
Village’s famous shows, including the amazing elephant show. None
volunteered to let the elephants step over them, but some of the brave had
fun feeding the jumbos bananas.
After a special VIP-ride which toured the vast tropical
gardens, the elderly guests settled down in the middle of the Mini-Zoo to
enjoy a picnic before they went back home to their daily life at the old age
home.
With elegance into the new year of life

Dorli Piller, one of the most elegant women of the Swiss
community in Pattaya, celebrated her birthday in lavish style on the 14 th
to 15th of September, at her
elegant and beautiful home at Little Hill Resort.
Many
friends gather around Dorli (2nd

Pascal Schnyder, Fredi Schaub, Peter Malhotra, Hans Spoerri, Lindsay
Kirschmann, Walter Thenisch and Hans Locher.
Many members of the Thai and Farang society were invited
to join this feast and Dorli and her husband Erich did everything possible
to make this party a memorable one.
The Royal Cliff Beach Resort provided the catering with
one of their best waiters standing by to serve the distinguished guests. The
house band of the Royal Cliff played soft music at the beginning and later
changed to dancing tunes.
Since it started to rain softly during the evening, the
guests moved under the roof of the terrace closer together to avoid getting
wet and that made it even cozier since all knew each other well.
Joanna Pasomthong, a Dutch woman of Chinese origin,
performed a nice dance, much to the delight of birthday girl Dorli and her
guests. “Happy Birthday” was played several times during the evening and
some guests stayed on until it was midnight and time to sing it again,
wishing Dorli all the best for the new year ahead.

Rain and power cuts don’t dampen housewarming party
On Saturday evening a house warming party was held at the
new Tha Bali home of John Collins and Michael Vaughan. Torrential rain and
power cuts preceded the happy event, but this did not deter the many guests
from celebrating with their hosts.

A sumptuous buffet around the swimming pool was provided
by Pascal Schnyder and his capable staff from Casa Pascal. Guests were
