The German Language Business Club “steels” a look at GSS

The German Language Business Club met recently for their lunch meeting at the Benjarong Restaurant of the Royal Wing. Delicious food and first class wines (sponsored by Ambrose wines) raised the spirits of the many guests, which was the soft part.

The German Language Business Club met for their monthly meeting at the Benjarong Restaurant in the Royal Wing of the Royal Cliff Beach Resort, where they were treated to an exhibition of GSS steel products.

The hard part came from guest speaker, Karl Mack, former GM of Siemens Pattaya, who introduced his newly founded company, GSS and it’s pure steel products. The company has finished the planning stage and is starting to produce. Now golf carts, grills and smaller items are available to be ordered or sold.

Not only was Karl Mack talking at the meeting but Elfi Seitz und Nick Bauer, the moderator of the event, called upon four new members to introduce their companies as well.

The next event of the German Language Club will be held in August and again promises to be interestingly informative.

Protocols and security issues topped the agenda for the YWCA’s monthly meeting at Diana Garden Resort, North Pattaya. Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawalee graciously presided over the Mothers Day ceremonies, held on August 7, and the YWCA wanted to make sure everything was in order well beforehand.

Nittaya Patimasongkroh (back center), president of the YWCA Pattaya branch, chaired the club’s monthly meeting, which this month focused on the preparations for Mothers Day.

Proper greetings for HRH the Princess were discussed in detail, as well as the entire agenda of events.

Nittaya Patimasongkroh, president of the YWCA Pattaya branch, chaired the monthly meeting.

During the meeting, the club’s charity activities throughout the last month were also reviewed, including donations to poor children, lunch programs for schoolchildren, and various activities for youth done in conjunction with other clubs and organizations in Pattaya.

Two of Pattaya’s major shopping centers are getting serious about educating their staff. The Big C in North Pattaya and Big C Super Center in South Pattaya officially opened in-house schooling facilities for staff members earlier this week.

Chonburi deputy governor, Wirawit Wiwatanavanit (center) presided over the opening ceremonies for the Big C in-house schooling facilities for staff members.

Last Monday morning, Chonburi deputy governor, Wirawit Wiwatanavanit, performed the ceremonial ribbon cutting at the North Pattaya location.

The new school will provide extra schooling for employees wishing to complete their high school certificates under four main goals. The first being to develop staff knowledge and training for life. The second is to promote further training and skills among employees to offer the best possible customer service. The third is to enable better public relations and to encourage education for staff and the fourth is to provide a convenient vehicle to staff to exchange ideas and opinions in a quality environment.

The goal is to ensure all employees move through the education system by 2005; currently there are 36 staff members from both the South Pattaya and North Pattaya branches partaking in higher learning. The remaining thirty-five Big C branches around the nation also opened their in-house schools on the same day.

Somsak Yonokphan receives a send off party to remember

The Garden Seaview Resort was the venue in which Somsak Yonokphan, former Banglamung district chief, was given a party by his peers.

Local politicians and senior police officers wished Somsak the best of luck in his new position as director of the office of local administration, which became effective August 4.

The party also welcomed the new district chief, Surapol Tiensuwan, previously from Sattahip.

The evening’s festivities were warm and jovial as city administrators and honored guests wished Somsak the best of luck with his new job. In celebration, many of the senior officers enjoyed singing karaoke throughout the evening.

The change of positions came after Chonburi Governor Pisit Khetphasook announced a reshuffle of local officers.

Expression: That which is learned and passed on from generation to generation. The Pattaya International Ladies Club’s meeting on August 5th was a gathering of 18 different nationalities for an elegant lunch at Bruno’s Restaurant, personally prepared by Fredi Schaub.

(L to R) Bronwyn Little-Carey and Sandy Langford present a special gift of appreciation to Gundi Clements-Set for revising the Guide to Living in Pattaya and Rayong.

Women in colorful dresses, sun-kissed skin with confident smiles clapped proudly for their president, Sandy Langford, presenting a flower bouquet to Gundi Clement-Set for successfully organizing the 2003 revisal of their visual voice, The Guide to Living in Pattaya and Rayong.

Raffle tickets giving chances to win prizes were purchased by members; all funds gathered are to be distributed throughout countless charities that PILC supports.

“Becoming a member is more than joining a club. Ladies like-minded are coming together and becoming part of a family,” spoken devotedly by membership director Liz Shepherd.

PILC creates sisterhood with diverse voices, and encourages empowering exchanges enriching Pattaya’s community while always improving the conditions of living for all children, women, and men. Cultured women, being an artistic and creative product of society, adaptable, which is the reason these women transcend boundaries.

Pattaya Sauber Club’s heart beats for F1 and charity

“Sauber-Fan Club” of Pattaya have a beat in their hearts for Formula One and the less fortunate. Immediately after hearing about 9-year-old Anupong Suttiwat, a little boy who nurses his crippled father, a fundraiser began in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Taksin-Pattaya and YWCA.

At their last fellowship party on August 30 in the “Gletscherkuss” Bar and Restaurant on Soi Diamond, they raised 10,000 baht and presented it to the charter president of the Rotary Club of Taksin, who will match the amount.

Jonny Zettel, owner of Gletscherkuss, generously added 3,000 baht out of his own pocket.

These funds will go towards building a decent home for the father and his caring son on land belonging to the Thai navy, which will pass on a home-register to the family so they can join the government’s 30-baht healthcare plan.

The house will be wheelchair-friendly since the father is paralyzed, and will have a living/bedroom, a separate bathroom, a Thai style kitchen, electricity and fresh running tap water, which they are currently lacking.

So far, the three clubs have raised 45,000 baht, yet another 55,000 baht is urgently needed to complete the goal. To complete this miracle, the three clubs have formed a committee called “Lend a hand to Khun Suradech” (the father of the boy).

Anybody who believes in miracles contact: Nittaya Patimasongkroh, the president of YWCA at 01-8170397 or Marliese Fritz, the treasurer of the Rotary Club of Taksin-Pattaya, 06-1493010.
