Double pole and victory for Stuvik in Portugal

Thailand’s Sandy Stuvik
(centre) celebrates on the podium after winning Race 2 of the Euro Formula
Open round at the Portimao Circuit in Portugal, Sunday, June 8.
The Euro Formula Open round at the Portimao Circuit in
Portugal on the 7-8 June started well for Thailand’s Sandy Stuvik as he set
the fastest times in Friday’s free practice sessions. Although very bumpy,
the modern circuit in Portugal’s Algarve region saw dry and mostly sunny
conditions, as the 20 Formula 3 drivers prepared for the second round of the
championship.
During Saturday’s qualifying, Thai teenager Stuvik waited until the middle
of the session before going out on track and he immediately set the fastest
time of 1:42:624, almost four tenths of a second quicker than his teammate
Artur Janosz in second place and the fastest time set by an F3 car on the
newly reconfigured circuit. With a front row lockout for the Italian RP
Motorsport squad it looked set for a good day.
In the afternoon’s race, the two RP Motorsport cars immediately pulled away
at the start, with the Thai driver being a little bit faster. Then on lap 6
of the 19 lap race, an accident in the middle of the pack saw the safety car
deployed and immediately Stuvik’s gear box jammed with a broken gear pin in
6th gear. The team had no option but to call him in to the pit lane to try a
fast repair. Frenzied efforts by the 6 mechanics followed and in just over a
minute the car was repaired and Stuvik accelerated back onto the track to
try and catch up with the cars in front. However, there were not enough time
to catch them before the safety car release and Stuvik passed the line 22
seconds behind the last car.

Stuvik leads the grid through
the first corner on his way to victory.
Some blinding pace by the Thai driver though saw him set
the fastest lap of the race and he started catching the lead group at the
rate of 4 seconds a lap. 6 laps later he overtook the first car, but was
then hit with a drive through penalty for exceeding track limits under the
safety car. Stuvik concluded the race in 12th position, last of the
surviving cars.
Sunday morning saw a clear blue sky and beautiful weather back at the
Portimao Circuit and yet again Stuvik proved to be the fastest in
qualifying, taking his second Pole position for the weekend with a time of
1:43:240.
The second race started at midday Sunday and after a chaotic start, it was
again Stuvik and Janosz who took the lead. The two teammates provided an
exciting race with constant battling for first place and both setting
fastest laps of the race several times. In the end Thailand’s Stuvik took
the victory, 1.091 seconds ahead of the Polish driver.
Stuvik said afterwards: “I was so happy to get this win after yesterday’s
(Saturday’s) mechanical issues and again to hear the Thai National Anthem
played here in Europe was very emotional for me. In the race, Artur pushed
me all the way and I had to drive as hard as I could to keep him behind me.
We did though give one another space and I really enjoyed the hard racing.”
The next race of the championship comes at Spain’s Jerez Circuit in one
week’s time on June 21-22. Stuvik will leave Portugal with 72 points, only 1
point behind his teammate’s 73 point championship lead.

Brass Monkey’s
winning run continues
Bangkok Casuals League Div 1 & 2
Paul Frain
With the season nearing its conclusion, Pattaya’s Brass Monkey FC, the
league leaders in Div 2, faced old foes Cosmos in Bangkok last weekend.
Brass could not afford to slip up in this game as second place The Sportsman
were waiting in the wings to pounce on any mistakes.
Cosmos started the match with only ten players and paid the price early on
when Brass opened the scoring after just three minutes. Brass received a
throw-in on the left and Tshuma sent a defense splitting through-ball into
the path of Matveev who shot past the advancing keeper to make it 1-0.
Brass continued to pile the pressure on the Cosmos defense but the home team
held firm. A breakaway attack by Cosmos then brought a good save by Brass’s
keeper Yongui and this gave the Cosmos players a lift and they started to
move the ball around with more confidence. An over-hit pass brought the
equaliser for Cosmos as the Brass Monkey defense was caught static and a
Cosmos forward nipped in to tap the ball into an empty net to make it 1-1.
Cosmos, with their tails up now, played some good football but the Brass
defense was now more alert and snuffed out any danger. Having a man
advantage finally began to tell for Brass as they exploited gaps down the
Cosmos left flank. The Pattaya team took the lead once more through a well
executed free-kick from Tshuma and went close again when Janssen’s shot
blasted against the Cosmos post and out to safety. Brass put their best move
of the half together just before the break and this led to Porokh scoring to
make the halftime score 3-1.
After the interval Brass stepped up a gear and put more pressure on the
Cosmos defense and a massive scramble in Cosmos’s penalty area saw Janssen
prod the ball home to make it 4-1. Cosmos tried to get more into the game
and kept the Brass defense busy but they fell further behind when Matveev’s
shot hit the back of the Cosmos net for his second of the match and his
team’s fifth. Ten-man Cosmos were visibly tiring as the match drew to a
close and they conceded a penalty kick, which Thioma converted to make the
final score 6-1 to Brass.
This coming weekend Brass Monkey play their final league match at Patana
School in Bangkok for the championship against 2nd placed The Sportsman,
kick-off is at 4-00 p.m. Whoever wins this match will be crowned Div 2
champions.

Home-towner Gary Baguley scoops Samui Regatta

Foxy Lady VI, winner of IRC One at this year’s
Samui Regatta. (Photo by Joyce Ravara/ Samui Regatta)
Peter Cummins
Reminiscent of the America’s Cup during the last century, when the
challenger was required to actually sail to the venue in Newport, Rhode
Island, Pattaya skipper Gary Baguley navigated his sloop, “El Coyote” to Koh
Samui from Pattaya, challenged the field, won, and then sailed all the way
back to the Ocean Marina in Jomtien. “Just another week at the office”, said
the affable Gary afterwards.
In the IRC Two Class of the just-finished 13th Koh Samui Regatta, held from
My 24-31, Gary racked up six wins in the eight races held for a total of
eight penalty points, five points ahead of the all-Thai crew on “Sansiri”
helmed by another local sailor, Patinyakorn Buranrom, and 11 ahead of the
smallest boat in the fleet, Mick Grover’s “Moon Shadow”.

Gary Baguley and his crew on ‘El Coyote’
captured the IRC Two Class honours at the regatta.
Regatta manager Simon James decided to incorporate a further sub-division in
the IRC Two’s “to give everybody a chance to win a trophy”, and in this
latter division Patinyakorn’s Thai team replaced Gary at the head of the
leader board.
The award for all class winners at the regatta was a traditional Samui
hand-made monkey, fashioned from coconut fibre. A nice touch, there, Simon!
Of course, one of the regatta founders, John Stall, was at the gala evening,
to present another coconut – this time the “Golden Coconut”- an annual award
to the person he considers has contributed most to the success of the event.
One very salient feature surrounding this year’s regatta at Samui was that
the political climate did not in any way “dampen” the joy, camaraderie and
the fun of being in a beautiful place, with one aim: to enjoy this lovely
country.

A delighted Bill Bremner (centre) receives his
AYGP jacket and trophy from Captain Marty Rijkuris (right).
The IRC -Zero Class, the Formula One of the regatta racing circuit, proved
to be a deadly competition over the week’s sailing in the light, shifting
winds, testing “man and machine” to the limit, with the big names in the
Asian racing circuit – Hong Kong’s Neil Pryde, Frank Pong and Sam Chan
battling Australia’s Peter Ahern for supremacy.
Neil Pryde’s “HiFi” (16pts) won out in the closest of finishes, from Frank’s
maxi sloop “Jelik” (18) which featured what seemed to be a “cast of
thousands” on board. Perennial top performer, Peter Ahern’s “OI!” finished
equal on points with Frank, but was relegated to third place on count-back,
with Sam Chan’s “Freefire” well behind in fourth on 27 points.
The IRC One Division generated much interest and featured the closest racing
of the regatta, with the sailors vying for several awards and just seconds
separating the top three on corrected time. In fact, the first four overall
in the class comprised four nationalities: Bill Bremner (Singapore), Marcel
Liedts (Hong Kong), Roland Dane (Aus) and Anthony Root (USA). Roland Dane’s
craft “Jessandra” was registered in Queensland, which most people know is
somewhere north of Sydney. Another fact about this team is that the skipper
represents “Red Bull Racing Australia”.

Neil Pryde’s HiFi on its way to the IRC Zero
title. But it was all Bill Bremner who was
to prove his dominance in the class, complemented by his “Foxy Lady VI” team
who won by a mere two seconds from Anthony Root, to also scoop the annual
Asian Yachting Grand Prix Sailor of the year and Yacht of the year 2013-2014
awards. Bill’s success resulted from seven consecutive wins on the Asian
racing circuit over the year. On hand to present the handsome trophy and the
winner’s jacket was renowned yachting scribe, Captain Marty Rijkuris. As
Bill donned the winner’s jacket he was amazed, “It’s a perfect fit, Marty”,
he said, dodging to protect his precious new attire from a line-squall of
champagne which enveloped the stage.
Bremner joins the select company of AYGP winners over the years, including
some of the region’s best yachtsmen: Ray Roberts, Neil Pryde, Peter Ahern
and Frank Pong, in the yachting “Hall of Fame”.
The splendid awards ceremony and dinner on the final night of the regatta
was held on the spacious lawns of the Centara Grand Beach Resort Samui.
Located in Samui’s central area on beautiful Chaweng Beach, the huge crowd
of sailors, spectators and supporters, enjoyed the Centara hospitality to
the utmost, with superb ‘happy hours’ on the beach at the end of each day’s
sailing and also the wonderful sight of Zico’s exotic Brazilian dancers,
just to give it a real World Cup feel. Resort manager Martin Heiniger
commented: “Centara is synonymous with the Samui Regatta, having acted as
its home base since the very first event in 2002, and we’re very proud to be
part of it.”
Principal Race Officer Ross Chisholm and his dedicated team had a tough time
during the week as they were obliged to juggle courses to deal with the
shifting and dying winds. Courses were shortened when Ross deemed it
necessary as he strove to manage two or more races in each class per day, to
complete the requirements of the regatta instructions.
Regatta manager Simon James was effusive in his praise of the support of the
Surat Thani and Koh Samui officials, namely Chatpong Chatraphuti, Governor
of Surat Thai Province and his colleagues in the Office of Tourism and
Sports as well as Samui officials, the Mayor, the District Chief Officer and
the President of the Samui Tourism Association.
The Samui Regatta, starting with just 11 boats in 2002, now offers a great
regatta of international standing, with highly competitive sailing. The
event has now grown into one of the most competitive in Asia and is the
final ‘lap’ of the prestigious Asian Yachting Grand Prix.

Kiwi consistency at Greenwood
The Pattaya Golf Society (IPGC) at the Elephant Bar
The Pattaya Golf Society started the new week with a
visit to Greenwood on Monday, 2nd June to play a stableford competition on
the C and B nines. The day was hot, the sun was high and there was not a
breath of wind as the field set off to play a course well prepared with the
front nine greens showing signs of recent sanding but thankfully it did not
detract from the round.
The rest of the course was in fine condition and again the “vfm” element was
as good as any golfer could wish. Greenwood still holds many aces, with its
long par threes, trees and variable, unraked bunkers and any golfer
levelling par there has enjoyed a good round.
So it was destined to be as Mr Len and Jesper Hansen recorded 33 points to
share third place, the former’s putting and the latter’s length the keys to
their success. The winner was Kiwi Alan Flynn who used all his knowledge and
skill to maintain a quality round of level par 36 points, which matched the
group’s winning score over the current year at the course. There were no
birdie ‘2’s and it was left to Swede Tomas Nilsson to collect the Booby Bevy
after a front nine of high promise was hijacked on the back nine and hidden
in mediocrity.
The long trek home saw a heavy thunderstorm which thankfully delayed its
appearance and the week had begun in fine style for the PGS.
Grimes, high and dry
Green Valley was the venue for the Pattaya Golf Society on
Wednesday, 4th June, as the group gathered to play a stableford event on the
course which was generally in good order except for some slight work on the
greens following a large Thai event a few days previously. A heavy sky made
the day very humid and conditions remained draining for the golfers.
Results showed the golfers had not forgotten how to play the course after an
absence of two months as Alan Flynn and Tomas Nilsson shared third place
with 33 points each. A long way ahead in second was Garry Hookey, playing
solid golf with 39 points but a member of his playing group, Ken Grimes, was
enjoying the challenge and a very positive back nine saw him finish on 41
points to win the day in style.
As always there were some disappointing performances, none more than the
driver of an excavator near the clubhouse who inadvertently sheared the main
water pipe, leaving no water available for the locker room. Grimes was
definitely home and dry after that! It was a sticky end to a good day at
Green Valley.
Best ever for Walsh
Following two fine courses the Pattaya Golf Society concluded its
week with a visit to Crystal Bay on Friday, 6th June, to play a stableford
competition on the A and C nines. The course could best be described a
“friendly” but the unraked and unkempt bunkers could be spiteful to the
errant golfer and the greens, though fairly quick were inconsistent on the
back nine.
Nevertheless, scores are traditionally good at the club and this day was no
exception with Jesper Hansen posting 34 points for third place. In second,
playing a superb round of gross 74 was Canadian golfer Brian Beaupre with 39
points whilst at the opposite end of the field Chris Walsh was playing his
best ever round in Thailand, 40 points which could have been even better had
he played the final hole more conservatively. The Irishman was rightly proud
of his performance on the front nine which saw him hit the turn with 23
points.
The ‘2’s pot was shared by Robbie Taylor and Wichai Tananusorn for their
efforts on C4 and C7 respectively. Larry Slattery won the bar’s consolation
beer and the Booby Bevy went to Mr Len after the shot of the day on the
sixth which saw a collision between timber, an iron and a toe left him
hobbling for the rest of the round. Golf is certainly a game of highs and
lows!

Low scores the theme at Navy
PSC golf from Café Kronborg

Dave Richardson.
Thursday, June 5, Plutaluang N & W -
Stableford
1st Dave Richardson (24) 29pts
2nd Marie Rowles (18) 25pts
3rd Lionel Rowles (33) 23pts
The game today was at Plutaluang with rain on the radar but our trip down
Sukumvit, although under dark clouds, was dry we experienced just a brief
sprinkle of rain at the course.
Following a swift check-in, we teed off on North 1 approx. 30 minutes early with
the sun breaking through and a nice breeze to keep us cool.
Round over and back in the clubhouse welcomes went out to Marie and Lionel
Rowels and Mal Shying, all from Sydney in Australia.
We had a small group and only one flight and the scores were nothing to write
home about. Dave Richardson managed 29 points but still took the win ahead of
Marie Rowles in second and Lionel Rowles third.
The best brings out the best
Travellers Rest Golf Group

Daryl Ottaway, Jim Cleaver and Neil Bramley.
Andy Rich
Well I have to say that this past week the cream certainly rose to the
top. One look at the top of the leader-boards showed that only the best and most
consistent golfers featured, leaving the rest of us mere mortals looking on
enviously. All the courses played during the week were first class venues in top
class condition, so I guess it was only right that the best players finished on
top.
Monday, June 2, Bangpra - Stableford
The TRGG got June off and running on Monday with a visit to Bangpra
and on a very hot and steamy morning. The large field for the low season set off
to teach the residents monkeys a lesson but it was only the three leaders who
ended up with decent scores. Daryl Ottaway rattled in 39 points for the win,
with Jim Cleaver taking second on 37 and the ever-consistent Neil Bramley
posting an even par 36 points for third.
1st Daryl Ottaway (6) 39pts
2nd Jim Cleaver (11) 37pts
3rd Neil Bramley (10) 36pts
Wednesday, June 4, Burapha A & B - Stableford
On Wednesday it was on to Burapha, another beautiful course which
hosts a number of international competitions every year. This day however it was
tamed by the TRGG’s international field as England’s Jim Cleaver led the way
home with an impressive 39 points. Thailand’s Mod Chaviraksa gave the men a run
for their money by finishing in second place on 38 points and Australian Daryl
Ottaway took third with 37.
1st Jim Cleaver (10) 39pts
2nd Mod Chaviraksa (13) 38pts
3rd Daryl Ottaway (5) 36pts
Friday, June 6, Greenwood C & B - Stableford
It was the anniversary of D-Day on Friday and at Greenwood the “D”
stood for demolition. The top three certainly did their best to demolish the
course, with Neil Bramley leading the way on 40 points ahead of the inscrutable
Ito Akitoshi just behind on 38 and Jim Cleaver again in the frame with 37.
1st Neil Bramley (10) 40pts
2nd Ito Akitoshi (9) 38pts
3rd Jim Cleaver (10) 37pts
Good luck to all you golfers for the coming week and if you would like to play a
round of golf with the TRGG, please phone Fergus Brennan on 086 056 7019 or pop
into the Ned Kelly Bar in Soi Lengkee and add your name to the weekly lists
which are posted on the notice board.

The wonders of Wangjuntr
Ellison, Rothwell, Rogers & Barfield…so close
yet so far.
Steve Ellison
Monday, June 2, Green Valley (white tees) – Stableford
1st Henry O’Brien (22) 42pts
2nd Allan Rothwell (8) 37pts
3rd Andy Makara (25) 36pts
Andy Makara joined us again today and shot to his handicap for third place
while Allan Rothwell had another consistent round and posted a 37 for second
spot and yet another podium position. But it was the legendary Scotsman
Henry O’Brien who had his day in the sun as his whopping 42 points easily
led the field and enabled him to snatch those handsome man vouchers!
Wednesday, June 4, Wangjuntr Highlands – 2-Man Scramble
1st Allan Rothwell & Peter Rogers (11) net 58
2nd Rusty Barfield & Steve Ellison (8) net 61
Wangjuntra (meaning Moon Palace) is a golfing experience like no other and
you really do owe it to yourself to spend the extra time and effort to play
here. With a PSC rate of 1,600 baht for green fee, caddy and buggy, it is
also great value for money now that we are in the low season.
It is just under a 90 minute drive to get here, but well worth it. This is a
vast complex, and the owners choose to call this a “Golf & Nature Park”
which is a fair description of this resort tucked up in the hills of Rayong
province, behind Greenwood.

Another beautiful vista at Wangjuntr Golf &
Nature Park.
This is not an easy golf course, and the 2-Man Scramble
format was the correct choice of competitions on this frustrating track.
There are some golf shots required here that you have never even seen
before, shots you have never used before, and imagination that is put to the
test like no other. I would rate the condition of the course at 9.5 out of
10, which is quite amazing for a project of this size and location.
Once you get past the pro shop for payments and locker room requirements,
you are trucked up the mountain about a mile, going through 2 security gates
reminiscent of Jurassic Park. You then change over to a standard golf buggy
that your caddy will navigate to the first of many elevated tees. The views
are both breathtaking and impressive.
The first hole par-4 offers an indication of things to come, as the
straightforward fairway drops off 60 yards down that tempts the long hitters
to go for the green. This is exactly what you want for a scramble, and the
Barfield-Ellison combo saw Rusty pop his drive out 290 yards to leave a 25
footer for eagle! The “2” did not happen but a birdie for both teams was a
great start to the day.
Peter Rogers did his fair share of scoring as his putter was red hot on the
front nine and Allan Rothwell had his driver tuned in, and both were an
unbeatable combo that ‘ham & egged’ beautifully when required.
The highlight of the day would have to be on the blind shot par-3 15th hole
to an elevated green. Rusty Barfield found his ball on the green just 3
inches from the hole in one! He obviously just teed it up in the wrong
place.
With some of holes named “Himalaya” and “Beautiful Beast” it is a good
indication of the challenges ahead. You are crazy if you do not at least try
this golf course. Sure, there are a couple of holes that go to the extreme,
but how many courses have you played where you love every hole on the track?
Go there, and have a good time.
Friday, June 6, Pattavia Century (white tees) – Stableford
1st Allan Rothwell (7) 34pts
2nd David Ferris (25) 31pts
3rd Phil Smedley (9) 29pts
It has been a couple of months since we played here at Pattavia, so it was
good to see the continued improvements on this classic Nick Faldo track. The
clubhouse is now finished and, albeit small, she is perfectly formed, which
is all one could ask.
It was reported the course condition was 9 out of 10 even with the little
rainfall we have had of late and the general consensus was that we need to
keep this on our monthly playlist as all 14 golfers were positive in their
feedback. Even the road in has had pothole improvements!
This was Allan Rothwell’s farewell round, and the New Yorker finished it in
style taking yet another podium finish to finish his week 3 for 3 with his
win here today!
Note: Just a reminder that we have a Road Trip up to Kabinburi for a
one-nighter with 2 rounds of golf on Wed. June 18, so drop by or email us to
sign up. The Golf Club is located on Soi LK Metro. Just call 085 434 3377 or
see our website www. golfclubpattaya.com and for more information mail us:

Bob bags a brace and gets the medal
PSC golf from The Outback Golf Bar

Bob St. Aubin (right) accepts his
DeVere trophy and medal from the day’s sponsor, Greg Hirst.
Monday, June 2, Burapha - Stableford
On one of the hottest and most humid days this year only four groups of
Outbackers played the A and B nines from the white tees, perhaps one of the
lowest turnouts we’ve ever seen here at Burapha. This also reflected the
distinct lack of tourists generally as we basically had the course to ourselves,
apart from a five-ball in front of us who thankfully the marshall told to let us
through.
Burapha was as usual in great condition and the scoring was reasonably good but
a count back down to the last six holes was needed to decide the winner, which
was Bob St Aubin ahead of John O’Keefe, both with 39pts. The consistent Ivan
Plunkett was third with 37 and Jimmy Little fourth with 35.
There were three ‘2’s from Kim Danboise, Gorden Clegg and Ken Young.
1st Bob St. Aubin (14) 39pts
2nd John O’Keefe (18) 39pts
3rd Ivan Plunkett (22) 37pts
4th Jimmy Little (18) 35pts
Wednesday, June 4, Bangpra - Stableford
The Outback played the underrated Bangpra, once again like
Monday, in very hot and humid weather, although it did get a little cooler on
the back nine as a light breeze appeared.
When we arrived there were virtually no cars in the car park and we could have
started any time we liked. There was nobody else to be seen until we got round
to the halfway hut, when we met up briefly with the German-Swiss group, who were
about to tee off. I personally think this course is one of the best value for
money courses in Pattaya, although it’s not easy and it’s quite long but the
greens are not quite as quick as they used to be, making one’s putting
experiences on the sloping greens a little easier.
It was a lady’s day today, with Suzi Lawton having a popular win with a great
38pts, arguably her best score round here, from the unlucky Greg Hill, whose
37pts would normally had been enough. Peter Nixon was third with a distant 32
and Barney Clarkson fourth with 31. Though a few players had chances for a ‘2’
no one was able to sink a putt.
1st Suzi Lawton (25) 38pts
2nd Greg Hill (20) 37pts
3rd Peter Nixon (11) 32pts
4th Barney Clarkson (25) 31pts
Friday, June 6, Green Valley - Medal
A deliriously delighted Bob St Aubin collected the DeVere
sponsored June Monthly Medal on Friday with a net 67, which not only won Bob the
trophy but also the low gross for the day of 81, a feat which Bob has never done
before.
Bob Lindborg equalled the net 67 to share the 1st & 2nd prize fund, as we have
no count back in the medal comps, but unfortunately lost out on the trophy.
Gerry Roche, playing with the Outback for the first time, and Suzi Lawton,
already a winner this week at Bangpra, shared third place with net 68’s and the
final podium place went to the fast improving Eddy Beilby with 69. Eddy has seen
his handicap drop from 18 to 14 in recent weeks.
Jean P Maffray missed out on the low gross by one and the hot favourite and last
month’s winner, Paul Greenaway, blew his chances away with double-bogeys on two
par 5’s (7th & 10th)and another on the last.
27 players took part in a competition of generally above average scoring with
the CSS down to 70. The course was in reasonable condition as the usual low
season maintenance was in full swing and there was no rain.
Bob St. Aubin was also celebrating his upcoming birthday and not only did he
ring the bell but he also sponsored the near-pin vouchers which were won by
Kerry Beck, Vince Butler, Mark Allen and Andy Makara.

Russell Gilroy tames the Emerald
IPGC golf from The Haven

Russell Gilroy and Phil Cass.
Monday, June 2, Greenwood B & C -
Stableford
CSS 73
1st Phillip Cass (21) 38pts
2nd Mike Hill (22) 36pts
3rd Markku Tynell (23) 36pts
4th Russell Gilroy (15) 35pts
5th Allen Raaen (7) 35pts
6th Terry Hodgkiss (22) 35pts
A very enjoyable week of golf played on virtually empty courses as the
political situation in Thailand seems to have kept away tourists, many of
which were obviously golfers. When added to an already especially low number
of players in the area during the current low season it must be a severe
problem for the local courses, but it certainly makes for speedy rounds.
Phillip Cass started off a memorable week with a win, earning himself a
single stroke cut in handicap after a mixed round that included three zeros
and could have been so much better, and but for a three-pointer by Phillip
on the last, Mike Hill would have taken top spot for himself as he applied
the pressure through the back nine.
Markku Tynell, who has been performing well recently, took third after
losing a count back for second with a lesser 16 to 18.
There was another count back for fourth, this time a three-way one, that saw
Russell Gilroy prevail with 19 as Allen Raaen took fifth with 18 and Terry
Hodgkiss sixth with 17.
There were no 2’s in either division.
Wednesday, June 4, Khao Kheow A & B - Stableford
CSS 73
1st Phillip Cass (21) 37pts
2nd Vincent Gras (15) 32pts
3rd Jon Batty (10) 30pts
4th David Ross (9) 30pts
5th Wayne Farrell (11) 29pts
After several recent visits to Khao Kheow when the conditions have been
excellent, this trip was less enjoyable as the greens were found to be in
quite poor condition with many bare patches having suddenly appeared, and
with the recent regular nightly rains obviously curtailing the green
keepers, the speeds were also very slow.
With a no carts on the fairways determining the application of the local
rule of ‘lift and place’ in the fairways, scoring was still at a premium
with only the winner able to break par and the CSS for the day once again
moved out to 73.
Phillip Cass made sure of a big send off, as he played his last game before
returning to work for another four weeks and once again led in the pack,
this time by an even bigger margin, earning himself anther one stroke
deduction of handicap for when he returns.
Vincent Gras came closest to challenge Phillip but was still five points
adrift in second place as the field generally struggled with the wet
conditions and the greens.
Jon Batty took third spot after winning a count back over David Ross,
finishing with a better 17 to 14 on the back nine. Wayne Farrell rounded off
the podium in fifth on 29 points.
Once again there were no 2’s in either division.
Friday, June 6,
The Emerald - Stableford
CSS 72
1st Russell Gilroy (15) 40pts
2nd Markku Tynell (23) 38pts
3rd Kevin Waycott (9) 34pts
4th David Grist (8) 32pts
5th Trevor Schirmer (15) 31pts
With many of the regular entrants taking a rest day, it was a smaller than
usual field that travelled down to Banchang to play the Nick Faldo designed
course where ‘lift and place’ in the fairways is standard practice to make
allowance for the condition of the grass. It is noticeable that the
management is working on the situation, with many areas having been re-laid
and this should improve the general conditions in the future.
Russell Gilroy led in a strong field after returning a four-under handicap
card, finishing with thirteen points from the last four holes to deny Markku
Tynell as he could manage just ten points from the same four holes.
Russell’s round was his best for eighteen months since the heady days of a
twelve handicap, but this day’s effort will see his handicap heading down
towards that once again in the near future.
Markku’s back nine of five under also bodes well for a future that will see
him at his lowest historical handicap.
Kevin Waycott was not quite able to repeat his maiden outing results but did
enough to claim third place another four behind, leaving playing partner
David Grist in fourth.
Trevor Schirmer had too many blobs to be a threat to the leaders but added
to his long drive with the last place on the podium in fifth.
As the pressure builds in the second division once again there were no 2’s,
but Kevin Waycott tidied up the first division with the sole one to sweep
the carryover pool.
Note: If you would like to play with The Haven group, you can contact

on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday on the days that you wish to play. A

Jonathan starts his surge to six
PSC golf from Siam Country Resort

Jonathan Pratt.
Tuesday, June 3, Green Valley -
Stableford
Tuesday saw a long awaited return to Green Valley, with the
weather continuing to be hot & humid. The course was in generally decent
condition, however there were several greens with patches of various
grasses, not something you expect from a reputed top class course.
After getting off to a shaky start with 2 double bogeys, Jonathan Pratt
(H/cap 10) may well be starting a charge to his goal of soon being on
handicap 6, only time will tell. Meanwhile current 6-marker Jeff Wylie
maintained his consistent play to record 38 points and gain second spot.
Near pins went to Maryin, Jonathan & Jeff with 2, with only Jonathan
converting for his birdie 2.
Thursday, June 5, Pattana - Stableford
Pattana was our Thursday venue, with the B & C loops our
allotted test. B1, arguably the most intimidating 1st hole in the area,
took its usual toll on some of the boys, but Willem kicked off with a
nice par.
The course was in good condition, few players on the course, and we just
beat the storm to the finish. With a small field we varied the
competition a little, incorporating a match play four-ball into the
equation, together with the normal stableford competition.
Despite Neil Harvey (19) leading the way with 32 points, from Jeff (6)
with 31, it was Jeff & Martin getting the best of Neil & Willem, 1 up.
Certainly it was close all day, and some fun was had with good hearted
sledging amongst the group before all headed back to SCR for a cold
drink and some tucker.
Note: Siam Country Resort, Restaurant & Bar is located just off Siam
Country Club Rd, after going under the arch past the 7/11, turn right
after 50 metres, with the venue on the left another 200 metres along.
Golf from here is generally played on Tuesday & Thursday, with the
Resort hosting prompt presentations on both days.
As a PSC affiliated venue we welcome ALL golfers, including ladies &
seniors (>60s) who have opted for the “Silver” tee option. Call 089 094
1841 for scheduling or enquiries. Hope to see you there, cheers & good
golfing!

Walkley sets the field
alight at Emerald
PSC golf from the Billabong Golf Bar

JP Maffray with Mick Thomas
Kevin Wild and Mick’s wife Dawn.
Monday, June 2,
The Emerald - Stableford
With just three groups playing today we took on an Emerald course in good
shape but with still some GUR patches on some of the fairways. The greens
were in great condition and if you could get the line right, as Owen did,
you could score a very good amount of points.
There were some good scores in but it was Owen Walkley’s day as he won with
a magnificent 46 points. Brian came in a distant second with 37 points and a
count back for third between Greg Hill and Phil Waite, both on 34, saw Phil
edge it with a better back six.
Sel Wegner got the only ‘2’ of the day.
Wednesday, June 4, Green Valley - Stableford
It was drizzling with rain as we arrived at Green Valley today
and everybody thought we were going to get very wet, however the clouds
disappeared into the wild grey yonder and it turned out to be a great day
for golf.
The course was in good shape but the greens had just been cross-cut and it
made for a hard day out for some, with putts sometimes showing a mind of
their own.
There was a count back on 36 points for fourth place and J.P Maffray got the
nod over John Anderson by having the better back nine. Third place went to
Bob Philp with 37 points and second to Kevin Wild on 38. Taking line honours
today was Mick Thomas, his first collect here at the Billabong ever, well
done mate and once again thanks to you and Kev for the bell rings.
There was only one two coming from Eng Cotterell.
Friday, June 6,
Crystal Bay - Stableford
Crystal Bay today with just a small group and we finished the
front nine in about 1 hour 40 minutes but then came to a sudden stop when we
got to the tenth, but a beer or two made the wait worthwhile. The course was
in good shape except the pace of the greens was a bit confusing.
Playing with Kevin Wild is always a pleasure but today after 5 holes he had
15 points and our good mate George was not happy as he could see 100 baht
going down the Swannee, but in fairness to George he paid up with no
grumbles at all.
Unfortunately for Kevin his skills didn’t last for the 18 holes but he did
do enough to win the day with a great 40 points and get his handicap cut by
one shot. Owen Walkley with 35 points came second and it was a tie for third
today between Bob Philp and Phil Waite, both with 32 points.
Note: The Billabong is situated just off Siam Country Club Road
looking straight down Lake Mabprachan. Give Bob a call on 082 204 3411 if
you are looking for a game.

Robbins rules the roost
PSC golf Bunker Boys @ The Ranch

A good week for the ever consistent
Mashi Kaneta.
Monday, June 2, Bangpra – Stableford
Twelve golfers today for our visit to the monkey course on a bright
sunny morning with a gentle breeze keeping temperatures at a
reasonable level. When we arrived at the clubhouse it was clear that
the course was quiet, and we able to tee off at our leisure, with no
groups in sight ahead of us. The fairways were in good shape but the
greens are still recovering from recent maintenance and were much
slower than one normally expects at this venue.
We welcomed back regular visitor Mike Lloyd, and he started the
round in spectacular style by blobbing the first three holes, before
eventually getting his act together and scoring 20 points on the
inward nine to record a respectable score, but not good enough to
get into the frame. Top spot was claimed by the always steady Mashi
Kaneta, one point clear of Tony Robbins and PJ Redmond made a
welcome return to the podium taking third place.
Only two near pins were claimed, by Duncan Lee and Kenny Chung.
1st Mashi Kaneta (14) 33pts
2nd Tony Robbins (14) 32pts
3rd PJ Redmond (28) 31pts
Wednesday, June 4, Khaow Keow A & B – Stableford
Although the car park was reasonably busy, it appeared
that most other golfers had made an early start, and we were able to
make our way at leisure to the first tee. It was soon evident that
an early start might have been a good idea, as it was another hot
and humid day as our three groups tackled the challenging A and B
nines at Khaow Keow. The fairways are currently not in great shape
but heavy mowing equipment was in evidence as the round progressed,
so hopefully they will be soon much improved.
Scoring was particularly difficult as the players sweltered in the
conditions and in the end 30 points was sufficient to secure top
spot for Tony Robbins, who is currently enjoying a good run of
results, beating Gerry Cooney on a count back. Newcomer Steve
Wallace took third place and also shared the four near pin prizes
with Takeshi Hakosaki.
Near pins were shared by Steve Wallace (2) and Takeshi Hakozaki (2).
1st Tony Robbins (14) 30pts
2nd Gerry Cooney (13) 30pts
3rd Steve Wallace (10) 28pts
Friday, June 6,
The Emerald – Medal
We had a good turnout today for our first medal
competition of the month with a KPK Foods voucher up for grabs to
the winner.
Once again the course was quiet and although there’s still a
considerable amount of GUR around, the fairways were in reasonable
shape and the greens were running true. As the round progressed, the
cloud cover increased and with a gentle breeze blowing there was
some relief from the oppressive heat endured during recent games.
Despite the reasonably pleasant conditions, the scoring on the day
was on the low side with no player managing to play to his handicap.
Once again Tony Robbins managed to nab first place on a count back
ahead of Mike Lloyd, and with two wins and a second place in the
first three games of the month, Tony has taken the early lead in the
Golfer of the Month competition.
Tony’s win came with a generous (?) free drop ruling when his ball
was clearly seen to bounce in a bunker on the sixth hole and
disappear down an animal’s burrowing hole, and despite Tony’s best
efforts (including sticking his arm down the hole – rather him than
me !!), the ball was not recoverable.
Near pins were spread around between Steve Durey, Geoff Parker, Mike
Lloyd and Mashi Kaneta.
1st Tony Robbins (14) net 74
2nd Mike Lloyd (14) net 74
3rd Mashi Kaneta (14) net 75

Chang blitzes Burapha
with 46-pointer
Jomtien Golf with the IPGC

Roar Berger and Burnie Sinclair.
Monday, June 2, Pattaya CC – Stableford
There were six groups out today with the equal cut at 9-18 in
division 1 and 19+ in division 2 and the best score recorded was 43
points by Bryan Priestley to win the second division ahead of Larry
Leibowitz in second on 40 and Marty Aronson third with 34.
Terry Madsen topped division 1 with 40 points, one point up on Ger Lodge
in second and Ian Plummer claimed third with 37.
There are no two’s in division 1 so a rollover to Burapha on Wednesday
while in division 2 Chris Slota birdied the 12th to scoop three
rollovers from previous rounds.
Near pins went to Phil Clerehan, Grenville Hill, Terry Madsen (2), Marty
Aronson and Chris Slota.
Wednesday, June 4, Burapha – Stableford
Everyone was pleased that we were allocated the A and B
courses and we selected the white tees to play off. It was another
outrageously hot day with no breeze whatsoever and humidity very high.
Returning his best score for many years, William Chang won division 2
today with 46 points ahead of the still improving Roar Berger in second
on 39. Burnie Sinclair took third place after beating Pepo Frick and
Jimmy Johnson 21/17/17 on the back nine, all on 35 points.
In his last game with us before his return back to the UK, Pete Sumner
stood atop the podium in division 1 with 38 points, beating Mika
Viljakainen 20/15 on the back nine, while Chris Slota came in third with
33.
Pete Sumner and Cris Voller both birdied B8, and Mika A3 and A6, to
split the division 1 ‘2’s pot while Alan Bissell and Burnie Sinclair
shared the second flight spoils.
Near pins were claimed by Pete Sumner, Mika Viljakainen (3), and Chris
Slota.
Friday, June 6,
Eastern Star – Stableford
After horrendous heat of the past week it was a pleasure to
stand on the first tee with a very cool breeze coming off the coast and
this lasted throughout the round.
There are eight four-balls out today and Frank Kelly recorded the
highest score, winning division 1 with 40 points while Karl Flood came
in second on 36, beating Terry Madsen and Bob Mulholand on a 19/16/15
back-nine count back.
Glyn Evans played his best round for many months to win division 2,
beating Iain Walsh on a 21/18 back-nine count back after they both came
in with 36 points each. Pepo Frick took third with 34.
There were no ‘2’s in the top flight but the organizer and Richard Shutt
both birdied the signature 13th hole to split the pot in division 2.
Near pins today went to Grenville Hill, Terry Madsen, Marty Rock, Chris
Voller, Glyn Evans, Ray Gott, Ian Plummer and Chris Slota.

Man overboard
The Backyard Golf Society

The Bliss (3rd left)
celebrates his golfing victory with the staff at Blue Sky Bar.
Not for the first time, the Backyard Golf Society
report relates more to our players’ non-golfing activities than the
actual game. Foos yer Doos Cowe took the gold medal this week, rocking
up late and still slightly inebriated, making it to the 6th green with 6
blobs (although he is adamant it was the 9th), walking off for a coldie
and failing to re-emerge for about 3 hours. After finally taking a
shower he emerged belt-less, baring all, and chucked an empty wallet at
the course manager before sleeping for 14 hours. Legend!
After that show the golf took second place but the winner of the main
competition was The Biss, still retired but looking out. The near-pin
went to frequent winner Jimmy ‘2 Stone’ and the skins were another
triumph for The Biss, winning 8 in all while The Quiet Man won 4, Danny
the Scumberger Kid took 2 and the final 4 holes were rolled over to next
week.
Golden Trowel’s Boyfriend has volunteered to take the first known flight
with Air Sri Lanka to London so we will be referring to him as the Tamil
Tabby until he returns. Based on reports of his eating habits he could
actually fly there without a plane if he tried.
With Michelle suffering another bout of gout we will be low on numbers
for a while but that will please The Quiet Man, down the road quicker
every Friday.

Gabe fires a parting shot
PSC golf from Tropical Bert’s

Brian Gabe & Max Scott.
Tuesday, June 3, Khao Kheow –
Stableford
The usual group plus a few welcome faces we haven’t seen in a while
met at Tropical Bert’s for the trek out to Khao Kheow. The weather
was again hot and humid, but a couple things were happily missing
this day; a rain delay, and those pesky gnats that swarm around your
head. Perhaps they have gone away for another year or don’t much
care for Khao Kheow. Either way, it was nice to be rid of them.
We were assigned to play the A and B courses and although Khao Kheow
is one of the most interesting and scenic layouts in the area, it
was sad to see the fairways on the A course heavily infested with
creeping weeds, patchy areas, and an uneven cut. We trust that this
nine will quickly get back to the usual Khao Kheow standard. The B
course was much better.
Henry O’Brian & David Edwards.
Khao Kheow is always a tough but fair test with
enough water to make even steely nerves shake, and the island green
is always waiting! Back at Bert’s several had bruised egos, but
Brian Gabe (H/cap 17) showed the course who was boss with an
impressive 39 points. Brian is leaving us for a few months and made
sure we won’t forget him too soon. The always dangerous Max Scott
(5) finished in second with 37 points, followed by Dick Warberg with
34 and Maurice Roberts with 32.
Near pins were claimed by Max Scott, John Harrison, Dick Warberg,
and Noel Pittard.
Friday, June 6, Plutaluang – Stableford
Friday saw Tropical Bert’s regulars make the trek out to
Plutaluang Golf Course, better known as the “Navy” course, and it
was pure coincidence that we played a military course on the
anniversary of D-Day. Was it our imagination or is it getting
slightly cooler and less humid than we’ve had the past couple
months?
Upon arrival we were assigned to play the East and West courses and
we hadn’t played these in a while so everyone seemed to enjoy
playing the layout. Course conditions were best described as fair to
good with the greens recovering from aeration and sanding, but would
this impact the results of the competition?
Navy is always a challenging course, but today a few brought out the
“big guns” for the event, and scores had to be high (as in
Stableford high) to get any reward. Back at Bert’s the results were
tallied and in first place with an impressive 42 points was Henry
O’Brian (22), just beating out David Edwards (15) on count back. In
third came Landis Brooks (7) with 39 points. Well played all three!
Near pins went to David Edwards, Henry O’Brian, Dave Nicholson, and
Guy Stewart.

It’s the Donkey’s week
PSC golf from Lewiinski’s Golf Society

Colin Davis and Christy Knight.
Sunday, June 1, Green Valley -
Stableford
A Flight
1st Ludovic Henninot (15) 40pts
2nd Freddy Starbeck (13) 38pts
3rd Yui Bietry (14) 35pts
B Flight
1st Claude Harder (16) 39pts
2nd Colin Davis (16) 39pts
3rd Mick Beresford (17) 38pts
Near Pins: No 5 Pierre Bietry, No 8 Bill Peach, No 12 Bill Peach, No 16
Claude Harder.
Ludovic Henninot knew the round was out there, it just hadn’t been
answering the call. Well it heard him today as he scorched the course
with 40 points for the top spot in A Flight. Every bit of that scorching
was required as a sublime day had the field tightly bunched and Ludovic
was followed into the barn in quick succession by B Flight’s Claude
Harder and the Donkey, both with creditable 39 point returns.
The Donkey seems to have misplaced his count back luck as he lost out
again to Claude, who also managed a near pin which he slotted home for a
2. Mickey ‘nine holes Beresford rounded out the B Flight with a bronze
winning 38 points.
Returning to the senior circuit and Freddy Starbeck was the silver
recipient with a very useful 38 points. Yui Bietry, Eddy ‘the Eagle’ and
Bruce Anderson were log jammed on 35 points and Bruce and Eddy
generously stood aside and let the ladies before gents rule apply.
Bruce Anderson and William Peach shared the 2’s pot with Claude.
Tuesday, June 3, Bangpra - Stableford
A Flight
1st Pierre Bietry (16) 36pts
2nd Tom Byrne (16) 35pts
3rd Colin Davis (16) 32pts
B Flight
1st Christy Knight (23) 37pts
2nd Aiden Murray (20) 36pts
3rd Don Lehmer (13) 36pts
Ireland’s Christy ‘good’ Knight was the only man to better his handicap
at the always tough Bangpra as he took B Flight and the man of the match
honours. Aiden Murray and Don ‘the ladies man’ Lehmer weren’t far behind
him, both on even-par rounds. Aiden got the nod in the count back to
pick up the silver leaving Don with the bronze.
Pierre ‘the magician’ Bietry waved a bit of magic as his even-par round
took the top spot on the A Flight podium. Ireland’s Tom Byrne landed the
silver a shot back as the Donkey carted off the bronze with 32 points.
Terry Mangan and Ludovic Henninot shared the 2’s pot.
Wednesday, June 4, St. Andrews – Stableford
A Flight
1st Colin Davis (16) 41pts
2nd Freddy Starbeck (13) 40pts
B Flight
1st Gerry Roche (20) 37pts
2nd Christy Knight (23) 35pts
Colin ‘the Donkey’ Davis provided further evidence that he can play
despite the mantle of leadership, as Sunday’s second was followed by
Tuesday’s third and culminated with today’s first. His 41 points was one
shot clear of Freddy ‘the quite one’ Starbeck.
B Flight was a all Irish affair with Gerry ‘the Irish rover’ Roche stood
atop the podium with 37 points. Tuesday’s top man Christy ‘good’ Knight
rounded out the flight.
Both Gerry and Christy slotted home a 2, along with Bruce Anderson (a
pair), Mike Jefferys and Ian Steele.
Friday, June 6,
Crystal Bay C & A – Stableford
A Flight
1st Thierry Petrement (13) 39pts
2nd Maurice Roberts (12) 39pts
3rd Takeshi Hakozaki (12) 34pts
B Flight
1st Ulrik Sinding (26) 41pts
2nd Ludovic Henninot (15) 39pts
3rd Colm O’Donovan (19) 39pts
The week concluded with a trip to Crystal Bay and both three-man flight
podiums were left to the perils of count back. Nice Guy Thierry
Petrement edged Maurice Roberts in the senior flight, both on the top
score of the day 39 points, but Maurice wasn’t too concerned as he
slotted home two 2’s as way of a consolation. Takeshi Hakozaki filled
the flight on 34 points.
B Flight provided the man of the match in Ulrik Sinding with a splendid
41 points. Ulrik was two clear of three players log-jammed on 39 points;
Ludovic Henninot, Colm O’Donovan and Ireland’s best dressed golfer,
Christy ‘good’ Knight. The resulting count back saw Ludovic and Colm
filling the minor places in that order as the luck of the Irish ran out
for Christy. He did however get a pat on the back and a ‘bad luck mate’
from his pal Jimmy.
Ludovic Henninot, Mike Jefferys and Rod Brown shared the 2’s pot with
Maurice.
The Donkey won the monthly golfer award in a playoff with Rod Brown.
Note: Lewiinski’s is situated on Pattaya land Soi 1, Beach Rd
Soi13/13 near Walking Street. Anyone wishing to play with us just pop in

Gerd wins his second Monthly Mug
PSC golf from The Growling Swan

Mark West, Gerd Riedler & Gary Monley.
Peter Blackburn
Monday, May 26, Bangpakong – Stableford
With the smallish field we had just the one division with
5 places and there were also rewards for nearest the pin on two of
the par 3’s and longest first putt on the 18th green.
There were 2 golfers who had no trouble at all with the greens and
scored 44 points each and the resultant count back saw Takeshi
Hakozaki (24 point back nine) being declared the winner, with John
Davis (23 point back nine) in second place. Then came three players
all with 39 points, which meant another count back that left Nolan
“Notso” Wise (21 point back nine & 14 points on the last 6 holes)
finish third from Mark “Westy” West (21 point back nine and 13
points on the last 6 holes) in fourth place and Nigel Cannon (19
point back nine) taking fifth.

Near Pins: 4th – Alain Taddei, 13th – Niall Stuart
Long Putts: 18th – Alain Taddei
Thursday, May 29, Mt. Shadow – Stroke/Monthly Mug
We had an excellent field of 31 for this the May Monthly
Mug competition. In addition to the main award we were able to have
2 divisions with 5 prizes in each division plus rewards for nearest
the pins all the par threes and longest first putts on the 9th &
18th greens.
Probably our most consistent golfer at the minute is Gerd Riedler
and he was the winner of the Mug (his second) with a fine net 71.

Geri Crilly & Ebrahim.
Mark West was declared the winner in Division A with a net 72 and
with 2 golfers on net 74 a count back saw Mike “Hunter” Gosden (net
34 back nine) finish second from your writer Peter “Blacky”
Blackburn (net 35 back nine) in third spot. Ebrahim came fourth with
a net 75 and fifth place went to Alain “Inspector Clouseau” Taddei
who finished with a net 76.
In B Division the winner was Gary Monley with net 75, Andrew
“Turtle” Allen came second with a net 78 and Fred Dineley was third
with a net 81. There were 2 golfers tied on net 83 and the resultant
count back determined that Frank “Woody” Donnelly (net 40 back nine)
finished in fourth place from Geri Crilly (net 41 back nine) in
fifth spot.

Monday, June 2, Crystal Bay A & C – Stableford
It was time to play our monthly game at the popular
Crystal Bay Golf Course with 18 starters on the sheet.

Ian Steele, Rocky Lawson &
Peter Blackburn.
I had the pleasure of marking the Division A winner’s card, and
playing some excellent golf it was Ebrahim who finished in first
place with an outstanding 44 points. There were 2 golfers with 37
points so a count back was necessary to decide the minor placings
and as a result it was John Davis (16 point back nine) who finished
second ahead of your writer Peter “Blacky” Blackburn (15 point back
nine) in third spot.
In Division B Geri Crilly was declared the winner with 37 points
with Russell Calcutt second on 36 and Nolan “Notso” Wise finished
third with 35.

1st Ebrahim (13) 44pts

Thursday, June 5, Treasure Hill – Stableford
After some heavy overnight rain it was a gloomy Thursday
morning as we made our way up 331 to the challenging Treasure Hill
Golf Course. Our first four ball got away at 9.50 am in very light
drizzling rain which soon stopped and the golf course was in
terrific shape and just gets better all the time.
A Division winner was your writer, Peter “Blacky” Blackburn with 37
points and Mike Allidi came second with 35. With 3 golfers scoring
34 points a count back was required which resulted in third place
being awarded to Mashi Kaneta (17 point back nine) with Gerd Riedler
(16 point back nine) and Ebrahim (15 point back nine) just missing
out.
Ian Steele was the winner of Division B with 30 points and John
Anderson was second on 27, with Sandy “Cindy Lauper” Leiper in third
spot with 25.
Division A (0-14)
1st Peter Blackburn (12) 37pts
2nd Mike Allidi (2) 35pts
3rd Mashi Kaneta (14) 34pts
Division B (15+)
