Final networking for the Chambers of Commerce

(L to R) Sarah Daly, Socialfi Business Development Manager; Matt Wales, Socialfi General Manager, Southeast Asia; and Scott Finsten, Harbour Master at Ocean Marina Yacht Club.

The gardens of the Amari Orchid Resort and Tower were the venue for the final networking evening of the year for the combined Chambers of Commerce being the Australian (AustCham), British (BCCT) and American (AmCham).
The event sponsor was ANCA Manufacturing, represented by the Country Director Mark Tristram, and the venue sponsor was the Amari, represented by GM Brendan Daly and the Chamber of Commerce sponsor was AustCham, represented by their Executive Director Mark Carroll.
The venue is probably without peer (unless it rains) and the set-up in the gardens lends itself to relaxed networking. The food being offered also has much to do with the popularity of a venue, and the Amari’s Aussie Executive Chef Leonard Faust once more provided a ‘bottler’ of a buffet (Australian expression meaning ‘brilliant’), with the turkey and stuffing being appropriate for a Christmas event. The refreshments were also free flow and the service staff made sure no one was left thirsty!

(L to R) Angsumalin Pongtrakul, Purchasing Manager for ANCA Manufacturing (Thailand) Ltd.; Thanapan Tungpodeang, Manufacturing Operations Manager for ANCA Manufacturing (Thailand) Ltd.; Travis Stapleton, ANCA Manufacturing (Thailand) Ltd.; and Rattapoom Jirakajorn, QC Manager for ANCA Manufacturing (Thailand) Ltd.

The BCCT and AustCham members predominated, but once again the turn-out from AmCham was disappointing. Perhaps our traffic, now just like Bangkok’s, puts their members off the two hour (at minimum) trip down to Pattaya.
AustCham’s Mark Carroll welcomed the joint chambers, and in an exclusive interview with PMTV expressed confidence in the direction AustCham was heading, with increased numbers of members and also that Thailand was capable of (once more) rising above the current political problems. The other gentleman on the podium was Mark Tristram (ANCA) who explained a little of the history of ANCA and the machine tools field they are involved in here in Thailand.
Amongst the happy throng were BCCT director Chris Thatcher and Simon Matthews (Manpower) in the besplattered shirt. Mark Butters from RSM was another regular.
A very welcome return visitor was David Cumming (ex-GM Amari Orchid) and another Aussie who attends all networking was Scott Finsten the Harbor Master at Ocean Marina.

(L to R) Frank Holzer from General Motors, Ramesh Ramanathan, managing director of Visteon (Thailand) Limited, George T. Strampp, Managing Partner of AMS, and Lawrence Fraser, from Ford Motor.

The Automotive Focus Group (AFG) was represented by its members George Strampp, Mike Diamente, and Frank Holzer.
Paul Marks, the Communications Director of the American School of Bangkok was one waving the Stars and Stripes, while the “movers” included Kay Ellis from Allied Pickfords and Sumalee Marasri from Asian Tigers Mobility.
It was an excellent networking event, and everyone involved in the planning and production can pride themselves on a job well done!
The next event will be in January, and the Pattaya Mail will have the details.
