surrounding communities.
Vittaya Yoondorn
Pattaya is expanding its “Doctors at Home” project, adding up to
five more teams of physicals and nurses to make house calls on the
city’s elderly and infirm.
Suphaporn Cherdchaipoom, director of the Pattaya Public Health
Department, announced the program’s expansion at an April 17 meeting
with representatives from Pattaya Hospital and bureaucrats from the
disease-control, health-promotion, veterinary, drug-prevention and
rehabilitation offices.
Teams planned to visit neighborhoods in north, central and south Pattaya
April 30, after having called on the Thunwa, Rungruan and Charoensukh
communities April 23.
Program administrators called “Doctors at Home” a general success, with
teams having reached 60 percent of the target audience. However, they
said, demand outstripped the supply of medical professionals. Both
Pattaya and Chonburi hospitals were contacted to organization additional
teams of doctors and nurses.
