The Royal Thai Navy has
arrested 9 Cambodians fishing illegally in Thai waters.
Patcharapol Panrak
The Royal Thai Navy intercepted two squid-fishing boats staffed by
illegal Cambodian sailors off a Sattahip Bay island.
A navy patrol boat stopped the Chokthatchai, captained by Teecha, 55,
and three other Cambodians; and the Chokthatchai 3, captained by Yew,
48, and four other Cambodian sailors.
The sailors said the boats are Thai-owned, with Aakhom Sridaoruang, 43,
the lead investor from Trat. Their journey began March 10 in Trat and
the sailors are paid 2,000-3,000 baht each for the trip.
Vice Adm. Rungsak Saereesawat said the Cambodians illegally entered the
kingdom to work on the boat. The sailors will be deported and the navy
plans to track down the boat owners.
