Re: Streetwalker drugs, robs German tourist (PM Friday, 09 November
2012) - There are easy ways to prevent such robberies from happening to you
and your friends. If you live here for any length of time, you will quickly
realize that these drugging/robbery attacks happen often here.
Rule 1: Only wives and girlfriends are allowed in our real rooms,
whether that be an apartment, home, or hotel.
Rule 2: Before you go out to pick up a “short time partner”, remove
all expensive items from your body. Leave your room with only a small amount
of cash, and take your less than 900 THB phone for emergencies, not your
smartphone (if your smart)!
Rule 3: Ask one of your friends to take a picture of your and your
“new friend” before moving onto Rule 4.
Rule 4: Your new short time friends are only invited into short-time
rooms - they exist for your protection - use them!
If she is still stupid enough to drug you, get down to Soi 9 immediately
with your friend from Rule 3. We need these criminals jailed, then deported
from Pattaya. The police may be able to help apprehend them, and that is why
a high quality picture is very helpful. This should be obvious, but for the
record, do not ever tell, show, or discuss where you actually live with a
short time liaison.
If you found this information helpful, do our community a favor and help
spread the word.

Expat clubs do far more for the children
Editor;
Re: Swedish social workers given overview on Pattaya programs for poor
children (PM Friday, 09 November 2012) - Expat clubs do far more for the
children of Pattaya than all govt. agencies combined. Yes, the agencies have
good intentions but the road to hell is paved with “good intentions”. The
various foreign organizations “do” while the agencies “mull”!

I was a victim of the scam
Editor;
Re: Yet another jet ski scam leaves 2 Chinese students robbed, beaten
(PM Friday, 27 April 2012) - I was a victim of the scam in August 2012 and I
was demanded 10,000 baht, but negotiated it to 5000 baht. My hotel owner
later said I am lucky to escape and that there was an Indian group who had
to lose much more. I really feel bad for what happened to me. There was
practically no damage to the boat, just a minute scratch which I believe is
also manipulated. Seeing (this news story & comments on the web) reminded me
of that bad luck day again.

Angels are still amongst us
Editor;
Some of your readers may remember me from my writing of regular golf reports
for the TRGG or in my position as an English teacher in Banchang.
Well that all came to an end in October of 2011 when a car accident left me
hospitalised for five months and paralysed in my arms and legs.
I had been with my Thai partner Kwan three years at the time but I am sure
she could never have imagined the position she would find herself in.
But she turned out to be an Angel in disguise.
I did not at the time know that she gave up her job as a maid and stayed at
the hospital helping look after me and often slept on the floor by my bed.
She is still looking after me 24/7 doing everything for me including jobs
that no man would really want his partner doing.
We often hear bad stories about Thai ladies and I am sure that many others
would have packed their bags and headed for home where ever that might be
quicker than you can say Thailand.
But mine is an Angel and that is the difference.
The other Angels that I have to make reference to are the many true friends
that live in the Banchang area and golfers that I came to know during my
three years of writing reports who also started looking after me.
Organising a hospital type bed and a wheelchair plus other resources and
finance when it was needed, many still visit regularly and often bring
English food for me.
These are Angels in any ones book and all I can offer all of them is two
small words that mean so much.
‘THANK YOU’

TPP situation is being severely downplayed
Editor;
Re: Public protest against Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement
escalates (PM Friday, 16 November 2012) - The whole Thailand-TPP situation
is being severely downplayed by the mainstream media ahead of the US
Presidential visit. The USA has never brokered any deal that didn’t result
in a win for the USA. The TPP has been described as the “most important
trade agreement that we know nothing about.” Medicines Sans Frontiers,
Amnesty International, the Electronic Frontiers Foundation and members of
the US Congress have all spoken out against what little is known of the 26
provisions of the TPP. More information on the Secret TPP trade pact here:

Should Sam Rainsy be a hero or coward?
Editor;
Re: Thai PM to attend ASEAN Summit in Cambodia (PM Thursday, 15 November
2012) - Is Sam Rainsy, the main opposition leader in Cambodia, a coward or a
hero? He is afraid to enter Cambodia because he is afraid of arrest or
imprison. He stays in France meekly asking Hun Sen, his opponent, to pardon
him before he returns to Cambodia.
Sam Rainsy, please be a hero and think of Gandhi Mandela, Aung San Suu Kyi.
There will be a tremendous amount of political and popular gain to be
obtained by Sam Rainsy if he were to take good advice by returning to
Cambodia to face the jail sentence during the Asian Summit in Phnom Penh.
His political plight will be in broad daylight and his courage would earn
him more respect and, of course, votes and trust among the electorate.
Without a doubt his arrival in Phnom Penh unexpectedly at this time would
put Hun Sen in a clumsy and precarious position of deciding what to do with
Sam Rainsy. More likely than not Hun Sen will arrest him despite strong
objection from western leaders, but the negative pressure created on Hun Sen
and his government by the imprisonment of Sam Rainsy will have far reaching
and more serious consequences for Phnom Penh than the inconvenience of Mr.
Sam living in Prey Sar jail.
It is certainly a suggestion to be considered seriously if one wants to play
Cambodian politics which are usually dirty and can be deadly. Well, you
can’t be a cook if you are not willing to be dirty and get burned every now
and then.

First fall for Thailand
Editor;
Re: Thai PM seeking Thai, UK business opportunities (PM Thursday, 15
November 2012) - So Thailand wants more investment? The first measure that
all countries joining ASEAN are to implement is new Visa regulations to make
it easier, but already Thailand has said it will not comply - so therefore
the first hurdle and first fall for Thailand.
