BANGKOK, 30 June 2015 – The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has set the tourist target for this year at 28.8 million people and the revenue target at 202 trillion baht after the situation in Thailand was back to normal.
Deputy Government Spokesman Maj.Gen. Sansern Kaeokamnerd said Minister of Tourism and Sports Kobkarn Watthanawarangkun had informed the government that tourists’ demand to travel Thailand was still very high and the ASEAN market saw growth. The Tourism Authority of Thailand’s continuous promotion of the Thai tourism also contributed to its projected growth in tourist numbers in 2015, said the deputy government spokesman.
Maj.Gen. Sansern added that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha had instructed the ministry to set up sport associations in the regional level. The associations’ main task was to select athletes for national teams, the deputy spokesman said.
