Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Skål International Thailand and Worldwide Destinations Asia Co. Ltd, joined tourism professionals at a recent seminar for future leaders from the Mahidol University International College Division of Tourism and Hospitality Management.

The seminar began with a presentation by Justin Malcom, GM of the Aloft Hotel, Bangkok. Malcom delivered a lively presentation regarding the Starwood brands and the career opportunities with Starwood Hotels and Resorts. The presentation was informative and entertaining and left many students from Scott Smith’s Managing Package Tourism course considering future internships and careers with one of the 9 Starwood brands.

After a fantastic buffet lunch at Aloft’s Crave Restaurant, Pichai Visutriratana, Director, Worldwide Destinations Asia Co. Ltd, shared his experiences with the students. Pichai’s insights and advice regarding a career in the tourism industry was well received by the students. His presentation regarding tour operations and career possibilities was practical, educational and thought provoking.

Skål International – Thailand President Andrew J Wood’s sage advice to the students reflects his years of experience as a leading hotelier. President Andrew’s presentation regarding international tourism arrivals to Thailand focused on the rise of the Chinese tourist and the incredible opportunities and growth of this market. Andrew wrapped up the session by introducing Skål International and encouraging students to invest in their professional development.

Scott Smith expressed his appreciation by saying, “What an honour it is to be able to introduce future leaders from MUIC’s Division of Hospitality and Tourism to today’s tourism leaders. It’s wonderful to have industry leaders return to the classroom to lecture, mentor and inspire. President Andrew Woods’s introduction to Skål International allows the best and the brightest the opportunity to attend local Skål events and create networks that can forever change the trajectory and velocity of these student’s careers.”
