Khao Kheow Open Zoo introduces new Barbary sheep babies

CHONBURI, 30 April 2012  – Two baby Barbary sheep were recently born in the Khao Kheow Open Zoo. They will be introduced to the public on Labor Day or May 1st. 

One male and one female baby Barbary sheep were born on March 29th. Both of them are healthy and being raised with the herd. Khao Kheow Open Zoo has announced that it will show them to the public on May 1st.

The zoo received 5 pairs of Barbary sheep from Czech Republic in 2003. Barbary sheep is a wild animal found in Africa. It has thick fur on the neck. Both male and female have large horns. It resides mostly in drought areas spanning from the Atlantic Coast to the Red Sea in the north of Africa. The animal gives birth once a year, delivering only 1-2 babies each time.
