BANGKOK, Thailand – Military and disaster response units have launched rapid recovery operations in flood-stricken Mae Sai district, Chiang Rai province. The Disaster Relief Command Center under the 37th Military Circle has mobilized troops from the 37th Military Circle Company and the 3rd Infantry Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, King’s Guard, to assist communities affected by widespread flooding.
Engineers and soldiers worked together to place large sand sacks and clear blocked access routes, targeting critical breach points where floodwalls gave way and water surged into residential neighborhoods.
To support displaced residents and field personnel, the Royal Volunteer Center’s Mobile Kitchen Unit prepared and delivered 1,500 boxed meals directly to the affected areas.
High-ranking officers also visited several sites, including Kanchuchai Dike, Hua Fai Weir, and Ban Lueang Village, to assess the damage and offer guidance to ground teams carrying out floodwall reinforcement and sandbagging operations. (NNT)
