BANGKOK – The Ministry of Transport has been collecting opinions and suggestions on the 21.7-billion-baht transport center construction project in central Bangkok.

The Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning under the Ministry of Transport organized a seminar to gather input from the private sector on the government’s project to build a transport center on Phahonyothin Road.

The project is divided into two phases. The first phase requires a budget of 1.7 billion baht which will be spent on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. The second phase requires a budget of 20 billion baht to be spent on converting an 83 rai of land around the center into a commercial zone. The two phases are expected to be finished by 2023.

Investors taking part in the seminar voiced that the project development should take place simultaneously both in and around the center, while services offered in the commercial zone should vary, and there should be a specific landmark to attract tourists.
