BANGKOK, Thailand – Three suspects have surrendered to police following the fatal stabbing of an 18-year-old man outside Soi On Nut 39 in Bangkok’s Suan Luang district. Investigators have since taken all three into custody and requested their detention pending trial. Police at Phra Khanong Police Station said the suspects were involved in the fatal attack, which took place on the evening of July 19 on Sukhumvit 77 Road. Investigators traced a Yamaha NMAX motorcycle believed to have been used in the attack through CCTV footage. The vehicle was linked to a 17-year-old suspect, identified only by the pseudonym “Tong.” Officers contacted his mother, who later helped arrange for the suspects to surrender. At around 12:30 a.m. on July 20, the three suspects voluntarily turned themselves in outside Min Buri Police Station. They were identified only by their pseudonyms: Tong, 17, Bill, 15, and Pat, 19.
During questioning, Tong allegedly confessed to stabbing the victim, while the other two suspects admitted accompanying him and fleeing the scene after the attack. Tong also told investigators that he discarded the knife and the jacket worn during the attack into a canal in Saphan Sung district, but was unable to identify the exact location. Police are continuing to search for the missing evidence.
Authorities seized a Yamaha NMAX motorcycle, a Honda Click motorcycle that was allegedly used without registration plates during the attack, and two full-face helmets believed to have been worn by the suspects. The three suspects were transferred to investigators at Phra Khanong Police Station for legal proceedings. Later on Sunday morning, police escorted the suspects to the Central Juvenile and Family Court to seek pre-trial detention. Any decision on bail will be left to the court.
