BANGKOK, Thailand – On the evening of June 3, Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand presided over the Royal Birthday Ceremony in honor of Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday at the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram) and Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall in the Grand Palace.
The ceremony began with Their Majesties arriving at the temple. Buddhist monks of Chinese and Vietnamese origin offered blessings, after which the Queen lit the auspicious candles on the stone pulpit. His Majesty the King then lit incense and candles as offerings to sacred Buddha images, including the Emerald Buddha.
Following a series of ritual offerings and prayers, the royal couple moved to Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall where Her Majesty lit more auspicious candles and made offerings to various sacred images and deities.
The ceremony also included a sacred chanting ritual conducted by 48 monks, presided over by the Supreme Patriarch. The Queen lit a candle over the sacred Buddha image, then respectfully presented offerings to the monks.
The event concluded with the King and Queen pouring ceremonial water, receiving blessings, and returning to their royal residence.
