Bangkok – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has invited the Thai public to wear yellow clothes to celebrate His Majesty the King’s upcoming coronation.

The prime minister said this week that the coronation organizing committee had reached a conclusion on the royal emblem for the ceremony and it has already been endorsed by His Majesty.

Agencies wishing to use the emblem for decoration will have to seek permission from the screening committee at the PM’s Office.

In April, the government will issue commemorative pins for 300 baht apiece. “Coronation Ceremony 2019” will be engraved on the pin. The PM’s Office will be in charge of the sales. All proceeds will be given to His Majesty the King.

Gen Prayut also asked Thai citizens to wear yellow clothing between April and July 2019 as well as put up portraits of His Majesty, royal flags and national flags in and around state offices and public areas to celebrate the auspicious occasion.
