By reducing paperwork and minimizing errors, the MOPH Refer system is paving the way for a digital healthcare revolution in Thailand, ensuring timely and safer patient care.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Public Health has announced that all hospitals under the Office of the Permanent Secretary are now fully integrated with the MOPH Refer system, achieving nationwide connectivity. The platform, which facilitates smoother patient transfers between healthcare facilities, has issued nearly 400,000 electronic referral forms to date, significantly reducing paperwork and easing the burden on patients.

According to the Ministry, the MOPH Refer system enables healthcare providers to securely and efficiently transfer referral information between hospitals, thereby minimizing the risk of document errors or loss. In February alone, around 200,000 electronic referrals were recorded, with the monthly average currently standing at approximately 95,000.

The Ministry has also expanded the system to 806 Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospitals, further strengthening primary healthcare networks. Plans are underway to expand the system’s reach, enhancing service delivery from community-level units to major hospitals.

The widespread adoption of the MOPH Refer platform indicates strong trust among healthcare providers in Thailand’s transition to digital healthcare services, a major step forward in improving timely, convenient, and safer access to medical care nationwide. (NNT)
