Flooding in several areas has raised concerns about the logistics of consumer goods. The Department of Internal Trade has been in talks with retailers and logistics providers to ensure there will be no product shortages.

The Department of Internal Trade (DIT) held a meeting with wholesalers and goods outlets to determine the current status of consumer goods, as flooding in many areas is posing some challenges. DIT Deputy Director General Chakra Yodmani said retailers, convenience stores, construction supply stores, and logistics providers have ensured they can still distribute goods nationwide and manage the current inventory.

The meeting agreed that the event of goods shortages is unlikely, especially essential products such as rice, dried and canned foods, drinking water, soap, and detergent.
The DIT has urged retailers to put in place their contingency plans in case of prolonged flooding. The department has pledged to serve as a coordinator for businesses affected by the disaster.

To help people affected by flooding, the DIT has joined hands with several retailers to provide special discounts on everyday goods and construction supplies. (NNT)
