Thailand’s current measures effective in bringing COVID-19 under control

Minister Anutin recently held a discussion with the US ambassador to Thailand, Michael Heath, about the coronavirus situation.

The Ministry of Public Health has said it is not looking to ask the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) at its next meeting to ease COVID-19 restrictions.

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said the Omicron coronavirus variant is more contagious than previous strains, albeit less severe. Wider vaccination coverage has also helped to ensure that serious cases and fatalities have been on the decline.



Meanwhile, Thailand is considered among the nations most effective disease at bringing COVID-19 under control, owing to its higher vaccination uptake and capable healthcare system.

Minister Anutin said he recently held a discussion with the US ambassador to Thailand, Michael Heath, about the coronavirus situation.


Ambassador Heath said Thailand provided information in a transparent and straightforward manner.
