BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s airport agency saw increased flights and passenger traffic, boosting profit in the first half of fiscal year 2025.
Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) reported total revenue of 36.23 billion baht for the first six months of fiscal year 2025, from October 2024 to March 2025, an increase of 5.98 percent compared to the same period last year. Aviation-related income totaled 18.19 billion baht, up 17.82 percent, while net profit stood at 10.4 billion baht.
Across its six airports—Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Mae Fah Luang–Chiang Rai, Phuket, and Hat Yai—AOT recorded about 414,400 flights, up 12.9 percent, and 68.42 million passengers, a rise of 11.76 percent.
AOT is advancing infrastructure expansion at key airports. Suvarnabhumi aims to boost capacity by 15 million passengers annually by 2030, and Don Mueang plans to expand from 30 million to 50 million passengers by 2033. Chiang Mai and Phuket airports are also undergoing terminal upgrades, with feasibility studies underway for the second airports in both provinces.
To improve efficiency, AOT has rolled out automated services including biometric check-in and boarding, self-service baggage drops, and automated passport control. The Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) replaced paper forms nationwide on May 1st.
Commercial development is another revenue stream. AOT is moving forward with real estate and logistics projects near airports, such as cargo facilities, joint investment zones, parking buildings, and rail-link hubs.
Sustainability remains a key focus. AOT has been listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for both World and Emerging Markets categories and received an “A” in SET ESG Ratings. The organization targets net-zero emissions by 2044 through clean energy adoption and the electrification of airport vehicles.
Suvarnabhumi Airport was recently ranked the 39th best in the world by Skytrax, up 19 spots, and earned third place globally for airport improvement. The new SAT-1 terminal also received the Prix Versailles 2024 award for the world’s most beautiful airport terminal.
With its focus on modern infrastructure, innovation, and sustainability, AOT aims to cement its status as a top-tier airport operator and a major engine of Thailand’s economic and tourism growth. (NNT)
