Mr. Anutin has addressed reports the US offered 1 million doses of Pfizer brand vaccine to Thailand and that the state rejected the offer, explaining such donations must be carried out through an official process involving relevant ministries on both sides.

The Minister of Public Health has asserted Thailand never rejected a donation of COVID-19 vaccines from the United States but rather has yet to receive a formal proposal.

Health Minister Anutin Chanvirakul, has addressed reports the US offered 1 million doses of Pfizer brand vaccine to Thailand and that the state rejected the offer, explaining such donations must be carried out through an official process involving relevant ministries on both sides.

He pointed to the 1.5 million doses of Pfizer sent by the US in July as an example of a batch dispatched after formal notification was made and acknowledged, as the Department of Disease Control drafted a distribution plan.

Mr. Anutin stated that for the noted 1 million dose donation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has yet to receive any documentation and it is likely the claims are false. (NNT)
