The Department of Energy Business has urged motorists not to panic-buy fuel, assuring that domestic supplies remain adequate despite volatility in global energy markets linked to tensions in the Middle East.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Energy authorities are urging the public not to hoard fuel amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, which continue to affect global energy markets. The Department of Energy Business said domestic fuel supplies remain adequate and warned that panic buying could disrupt normal distribution.

Sarawut Kaewtathip, director-general of the Department of Energy Business, said storing large amounts of fuel could violate the law and create safety risks if handled improperly. He advised motorists to refuel vehicles as usual and avoid bringing containers to service stations to store additional fuel.

The department said exceptions may apply for farmers and certain occupations that require fuel to be stored in containers for work-related use. In such cases, service station operators may allow such purchases under appropriate supervision.

Authorities said they are closely monitoring developments and have asked fuel distributors to expedite procurement and distribution to ensure supplies remain sufficient to meet public demand. Officials also urged the public to use fuel only as necessary and avoid unnecessary stockpiling to help maintain stability in supply and pricing. (NNT)
