BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand is hosting the 3rd UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of AI from June 24 to 27 in Bangkok, providing over 800 participants from 194 Member States a forum to explore practical approaches to ethical AI under UNESCO’s guiding principles.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society Prasert Chandraruangthong, during a recent meeting, announced the country’s readiness to welcome delegates and co-organize the event alongside UNESCO and several national ministries. The program will begin with strategic and ministerial sessions focused on AI governance and regional cooperation. Day two will feature an official opening ceremony and keynote speeches by international leaders, who will present their national visions for ethical AI. These sessions aim to connect innovation with responsible policymaking.
A series of side events will accompany the main forum to encourage broader engagement beyond the official program. These will involve academic paper presentations, startup pitch competitions, and workshops covering areas such as child rights in the AI era, regional workforce development, and regulatory sandbox testing. Other partners include UNICEF, ESCAP, and CMKL University.
The Thai government will also launch “Bangkok AI Week 2025” under the theme “AI-Powered Nation: Unleashing the Digital Economy for All.” Events will be held at multiple venues across Bangkok, showcasing AI-driven solutions, hosting hackathons, and providing networking opportunities for developers, entrepreneurs, and investors.
The forum is set to affirm Thailand’s growing role in global discussions on ethical technology, supporting responsible AI governance and the country’s digital transformation. (NNT)
