BANGKOK, Thailand – Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Supamas Isarabhakdi outlined five key policy priorities for the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund, emphasizing safe and creative media that people can access, understand, and use wisely and equally. The Minister, in her capacity as Chairperson of the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund Board, opened a workshop on July 1, 2026, to prepare the fund’s operational plan, financial plan, and budget for fiscal year 2027. She said that FY2027 marks the final year of the fund’s second strategic plan, covering 2023 to 2027. It is an important opportunity to review outcomes and set future directions.

The government assigned five policy priorities for the fund’s FY2027 planning. These include shifting the fund’s role from grant provider to co-creator; working with agencies such as the Public Relations Department and MCOT to develop local content creators and local heroes in every province; preparing a shared code of conduct and supporting Thai digital platforms; creating safe learning spaces for people of all ages on online safety; and improving laws and regulations that limit the development of creative works and intellectual property. Supamas said the fund should make grant criteria more flexible, reduce documentation requirements, and identify high-quality creators who communicate constructive, socially beneficial content.

The Minister added that children, youth, and older persons are vulnerable to online scams, harmful content, and divisive messaging. The fund should help create accessible learning spaces that enable people of all ages to understand online risks and use media safely in daily life. The public can follow updates and participate in the fund’s initiatives via the Thai Media Fund’s official website and Facebook page. (NNT)
