BANGKOK, Thailand – The Royal Thai Police (RTP) has intensified operations against transnational scam networks under the direction of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul. Coordination is being led through the upgraded International Anti-Scam and Human Trafficking Syndicate Command Center (IAC War Room), which now serves as the central mechanism for combating call-center gangs and online fraud.
Police Commissioner-General Pol Gen Kittirat Phanphet chaired a meeting with law enforcement and regulatory agencies to advance suppression efforts, while Pol Lt Gen Trirong Piewpan, Deputy Inspector General of Police and spokesperson for the Cyber Crime Suppression Center, provided an update on progress. The IAC War Room now includes the Bank of Thailand, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, the Department of Special Investigation, and digital platform regulators. Since its establishment in August 2025, the center has increased the prevention of fraudulent fund transfers by 40 percent.
Stronger coordination with the financial sector has improved the tracking, freezing, and seizure of assets linked to scam syndicates. Thai authorities continue to share intelligence with regional partners, though cooperation with Cambodia has faced delays. Pol Lt Gen Trirong said Thai police have identified more than 60 scam operation sites in Cambodia and issued warrants for key suspects, but progress in joint enforcement remains limited.
The Prime Minister has instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enhance coordination with international law enforcement, private-sector partners, and non-governmental organizations to assist victims and strengthen intelligence sharing. The Anti-Money Laundering Office has frozen assets belonging to dual-national suspects, while the Ministry of Interior is examining the legal basis for revoking Thai nationality for those involved in criminal activities.
Authorities have dismissed unverified reports that scam groups and foreign workers from Cambodia have relocated to Thailand, confirming that no evidence supports such claims. With the upgraded IAC War Room now operating as the government’s central coordination hub, the Royal Thai Police reports continued progress in intercepting illegal transactions and dismantling transnational scam networks across the region.
