Thailand takes creative industry push to Cannes Film Festival 2026

Thailand will showcase its film industry at the 79th Cannes Film Festival from May 12–23, featuring Thai films, talent, and new investment incentives. The program includes the Thailand Pavilion opening, pitching sessions, and global networking events to connect Thai creators with international studios and investors.

CANNES, France – Thailand is preparing to participate in the 79th Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France, from May 12 to 23, with the Ministry of Culture promoting Thai films, actors, and creative industry businesses on the international stage.

Culture Minister Sabeeda Thaised said Thailand’s activities at Cannes will include the opening ceremony of the Thailand Pavilion on May 13, presided over by Deputy Prime Minister Suphajee Suthumpun, as well as a “Director Talk” session on May 14. Thailand will also hold pitching sessions and networking events linking Thai producers with international investors, distributors, and filmmakers.



Thai films selected for this year’s festival include “9 Temples to Heaven,” featured in the Directors’ Fortnight section, and “What Do You Seek in the Dark?” selected for Critics’ Week. Other projects presented during Thai industry showcase events include “Possessed,” “Gohan,” “God Skin,” “1 After One,” “The Weight of Ash,” “So Long, Maesalong,” and “The Apocalypse of Bee.”

Singer and actor Kunpimook Bhuwakul of GOT7 is also scheduled to attend the festival as a representative of Thai cinema and a cast member of the horror film “The Confession of Shaman.” Thailand will also introduce a new incentive program offering cash rebates of up to 20% for foreign digital content companies that hire Thai producers for qualifying projects involving animation, visual effects, game production, and post-production services.  (NNT)
