Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Perisvivatana briefs the media as authorities accelerate flood recovery and prepare for more heavy rain.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The latest Joint Information and Communication Center (JICC) briefing detailed ongoing flood response and recovery efforts as authorities prepare for further heavy rainfall this month. Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Perisvivatana led the briefing, reporting that the prime minister has instructed agencies to maintain personnel deployments, accelerate drainage, continue assistance, support environmental recovery, and repair utilities and infrastructure.

The Thai Meteorological Department expects heavier rainfall from the Northeast to western Thailand from October 4 to 7, followed by heavy and persistent rain across the Central Region from Nakhon Sawan to Bangkok during October 11–14. The Office of the National Water Resources reported that northern water volumes are declining, with discharge at Chao Phraya Dam remaining stable. Pa Sak Dam is above its storage capacity, while Mae Klong Dam is accelerating releases to create additional capacity ahead of expected rainfall.

In Bangkok, high water levels continue to affect Phahonyothin, Suwinthawong, and Krungthep Kreetha roads, while Min Buri, Nong Chok, Prawet, and Saphan Sung remain under close watch. The BMA is continuing drainage operations, and flood-affected residents can apply for financial assistance through the Thang Rath app, the BMA’s online registration system, or any of Bangkok’s 50 district offices.

The BMA is also preparing for the October 11–14 rainfall period, with disaster relief centers at every district office and arrangements for evacuations, temporary vehicle parking, and medical services. Additional contingency measures are being prepared around Queen Sirikit National Convention Center and Khlong Toei District during World Bank meetings scheduled for the same period, while flood response and public assistance continue across the capital.
