Thailand pushes trade ties with Saudi Arabia

BANGKOK, Thailand – A delegation has launched discussions to strengthen trade and investment ties, supporting long-term cooperation and regional economic growth.

Dr. Thitiwat Adisornphankul, Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, led a Thai delegation to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to explore new trade and investment opportunities. Accompanied by Pol. Lt. Col. Wannapong Kotcharag, Secretary General of the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC), and Navy Captain Jakkrapong Apimathatham, the team included business operators from Thailand’s southern border provinces.



The delegation met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Darm Boontham to reaffirm bilateral relations. They also held discussions with Abdulaziz Alsakran, Deputy Governor of the General Authority of Foreign Trade, to promote sustainable economic partnerships. The talks focused on matching Thai investors with counterparts in Saudi Arabia, particularly in food and beverages, apparel, and the health and wellness sector.

The visit aims to leverage the economic potential of Thailand’s southern provinces, particularly in halal food, tourism, agriculture, and infrastructure, to facilitate international trade. The delegation highlighted the Thai government’s policy of supporting regional entrepreneurs and expanding their access to the Middle Eastern market.


Saudi officials welcomed the Thai team, expressing appreciation for the renewed bilateral engagement. Both sides recognized the mutual benefits of industrial collaboration in achieving shared economic and social development goals.
