Thailand takes its case to the world—at the OSCE’s Helsinki+50 summit, Thai officials reaffirm the nation’s peaceful stance, reject misinformation from Cambodia, and call for greater ASEAN–OSCE cooperation on regional security issues.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai government has intensified its diplomatic efforts on the global stage, using official platforms to present verified facts and counter false narratives surrounding the Thai–Cambodian border conflict. At the recent Helsinki+50 conference under the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the Thai delegation led by Department of European Affairs Director-General Khrongkanit Rakcharoen emphasized Thailand’s adherence to international law, the UN Charter, and the Helsinki Final Act.

Thai representatives reaffirmed the country’s legal right to self-defense in response to unprovoked and indiscriminate attacks by Cambodian forces, which have harmed civilians and public infrastructure. Thailand remains committed to the ceasefire agreement and supports bilateral dialogue mechanisms to de-escalate tensions.

The delegation also used the opportunity to expand regional security cooperation. As the only ASEAN member in the OSCE framework, Thailand proposed itself as a bridge between ASEAN and OSCE partners. Areas of collaboration include cyber security, anti-human trafficking, environmental security, and online scam prevention.

Thailand announced its readiness to co-host the 2026 OSCE Asian Conference with Finland, focusing on combating transnational crime and online fraud. The Thai government also contributed to the Helsinki+50 Fund, marking 25 years of Thai–OSCE partnership.

Government spokesperson Jirayu Huangsap reiterated Thailand’s commitment to truth, transparency, and lawful conduct. He stated that the country will not yield to distortion or baseless accusations and will continue to assert its actions on the world stage through verified facts and peaceful engagement. (TNA)
