Thailand promotes science and innovation to improve farming in Kamphaeng Phet

Deputy Prime Minister Yodchanan Wongsawat visits Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University on October 11 to promote technology transfer, lower farming costs and increase the value of agricultural products.

KAMPHAENG PHET, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Prof. Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat visited Kamphaeng Phet Province on October 11, 2026, to promote science, technology, and innovation to strengthen agriculture and local economies.

Speaking at Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that the initiative aims to reduce agricultural production costs, increase productivity, add value to farm products, and support sustainable grassroots economic development.

The Deputy Prime Minister delivered a special address on “Science, Technology and Innovation for Communities” and attended the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research, the Liquor Distillery Organization, and Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University to promote technology transfer to local communities.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that agriculture remains a key foundation of the Thai economy, but farmers face ongoing challenges such as high production costs, crop diseases like cassava mosaic disease, and limitations in processing and marketing. The ministry plans to apply science and innovation to address these issues, improve production efficiency, and increase the value of agricultural products.

Prof. Dr. Yodchanan added that the ministry will transfer knowledge and technologies for practical use in local communities to create employment and income opportunities while supporting environmental protection. The initiative aims to improve quality of life and help local economies achieve sustainable growth. (NNT)
