BANGKOK, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is promoting tuk-tuk travel across Bangkok following the release of LISA’s SaWaDiKa, which takes the familiar Thai greeting and the country’s iconic three-wheeled vehicle to an international audience. TAT, led by Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, is encouraging travelers to explore four well-known Bangkok landmarks by tuk-tuk from the afternoon into the night.
The suggested route begins at the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the Grand Palace in the historic Phra Nakhon district, offering views of traditional Thai architecture and the temple’s distinctive chedis. Travelers can then continue on to the Giant Swing and Wat Suthat, two of Bangkok’s best-known historic sites.
The route continues to the Royal Jubilee Gate at Odeon Circle, regarded as the gateway to Yaowarat, before heading into Bangkok’s Chinatown. After dark, Yaowarat Road offers a contrasting experience with its neon signs, bustling streets, restaurants, and food stalls. TAT is using the international attention surrounding SaWaDiKa to introduce travelers to different sides of Bangkok, from historic architecture and cultural heritage to street food and nightlife.
