Thailand, Poland to strengthen bilateral ties in all dimensions

POLAND, July 5 — Thailand and Poland have mutually agreed to open a new chapter of their bilateral relations in all dimensions, to foster regional partnership between ASEAN and Europe, while Bangkok and Warsaw will seek ways to increase their trade value to US$1 billion by 2018. 

Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, who was on an official visit to Poland, held bilateral talks with her Polish counterpart Donald Tusk covering a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues needing to be further reinforced.

During the working lunch between the two leaders, Ms Yingluck discussed the ways to setting up a mechanism for cooperation in economic and military affairs, as well as cooperation between the private sectors of both countries.

Ms Yingluck told Mr Tusk that Thailand was ready to develop bilateral relations with Poland into a strategic partnership and expanded cooperation with mutual benefit for the well-being of the people of both nations.

The Thai premier assured her counterpart regarding Thailand’s political stability and economic potential and its readiness to welcome investment from Poland, saying that Thailand could be Poland’s gateway to the ASEAN member countries.

Meanwhile, Thailand also regards Poland as a gateway for Thai products to Europe and wants to upgrade economic relations aiming to increase trade value with Poland to US$1 billion before the end of 2018.

After the bilateral talks, Ms Yingluck and Mr Tusk witnessed the signing ceremony of six agreements and MoUs.
