Thailand launches mental health support for citizens affected by Middle East unrest

The Department of Mental Health has activated counseling services and the 24-hour Mental Health Hotline 1323 to support Thai citizens and families affected by tensions in the Middle East, offering psychological assistance and guidance to help manage anxiety during the crisis.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The government has introduced mental health support measures for Thai citizens affected by the unrest in the Middle East as concerns grow among families of Thai workers and residents in the region. Deputy Government Spokesperson Airin Phanrit said many members of the public have been closely following developments, which have led to increased anxiety in some households.

The Department of Mental Health under the Ministry of Public Health has been directed to provide psychological support and counseling services. Specialist teams are offering assistance through the Mental Health Hotline 1323, which operates free of charge 24 hours a day.

Additional support is available through the LINE platform. Thai nationals can access the service by adding the account ID @1323middle.east, allowing those currently in affected areas to communicate with mental health professionals and request assistance quickly.



Authorities also advised the public to manage news consumption carefully, maintain normal daily routines when possible, prepare personal safety plans, stay connected with family and friends, and take part in stress-relieving activities such as exercise or meditation.
