BANGKOK, Thailand – The Department of Energy Business (DOEB) has launched a nationwide inspection of oil stocks to reassure the public that domestic fuel supplies are sufficient and there is no risk of shortage.

On March 13, 2026, the DOEB, in coordination with provincial energy offices, conducted field inspections of fuel volumes at oil depots nationwide. This operation monitored stock levels in response to reports that major depots were allegedly withholding supplies, which could disrupt deliveries to regional hubs and service stations.

Director-General Sarawut Kaewtathip stated that the department responded promptly to these concerns. Officials inspected 53 strategic fuel reserves in 23 provinces, focusing on crude oil, gasoline, and diesel. The department is also reviewing procurement and distribution systems to ensure smooth operations.

The DOEB confirms that Thailand’s fuel reserves are sufficient for domestic needs and that distribution is operating normally. Fuel traders have been instructed to manage stocks and logistics efficiently to avoid disruptions. The department will continue close monitoring and warns that hoarding or actions that threaten energy security will be subject to strict legal action. Officials urge the public not to panic-buy, as the national fuel supply remains stable. (NNT)
